Forums - Nintendo - Do you think Nintendo should lower the price of DS Lite?

Do you think Nintendo should lower the price of DS Lite?  Currently, the system is $129.99 and the price of DSi is $169.99.

I would love to get a DS model and I believe it has great games.  I love my Nintendo NES Edition GBA SP and it is my second favorite Nintendo console of all time after the SNES.  However, I would love to retire it and get a DS as I said.  The problem with this is not knowing what do to with the current DS pricing model.  I'm more of a budget gamer and $169.99 for a DSi when I'm also thinking of getting a Wii sometime (buying a DSi and a Wii would cost over $400.00 and throw in buying some of the quality games that are out for each and I'm rapidly passing the $500.00 in spending mark) soon is a bit steep in my book.

On the other hand, I would very much like to get the DS Lite, but if I'm going to spend well over a hundred dollars on a new handheld, it seems like the best bet would be to just go ahead and get the DSi (except for the fact that you lose GBA functionality and a lot of peripheral compatability on DSi that you can enjoy with DS Lite).

I personally wish that Nintendo would bring the price of DS Lite down to $99.99 with the DSi out now.  I really don't know what to do in this situation about getting a new Nintendo handheld and / or console.

What do you think of Nintendo's current pricing policies?  Do you think Nintendo will lower the cost of DS Lite anytime soon?  What do you think is the best thing to do when deciding which of the Nintendo consoles to get under the circumstances I described above?

IF it sells at 129.99 why in the world if you are a company  lower it?

Yes they should

Yes, they should. $99.99 would be good, drive in even more sales than normal.

The PSP should also shave some of their price. Drop $20-$30 to try to keep up.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

The sysem is still selling like crazy. More than the wii. Why would thy lower it? People sem fine with the price now.

Yes they should because I need a new DS Lite.

they should, but while people buy it they won't.
or at least add mp3 support and other formats, like ogg, aac plus.

and offer at least a 2mpx autofocus camera.

cheap phones that cost way less than dsi lite have it. and they can run DS games hardware wise.

like low end nokia smartphones.

If it's continues selling at the level it's selling at now, then there is no need to cut the price. And I don't see it slowing down in the months to come, especially when sales start ramping up in October.

If you need a cheaper DSLite, you could always buy it used. My area you can find it for $70 or $80. Just make sure that you can test it out first, to make sure that it works and that the R/L buttons are in good shape.

But is the DS Lite still selling that well or are most DSs being purchased actually DSi's? I remember awhile back when regular DS sales (which I'm assuming were DS Lite's) weren't selling that well on the Japan Charts while DSi was accounting for most DS / Japanese hardware purchases.

yes they should and at $99 , would be a perfect price.
