Forums - Sony - Sony Patents A Motion Control Sys. That Uses Ordinary Objects As controller

That was cool with the cups pouring water, I have never seen that before.

But I am really having trouble thinking of any reason I would want to use motion controls in any game, whether that be Sony's motion tech, or Natal.

I guess maybe boxing, or golf or something... but uggghhh .... No Not even that would be fun.

I suppose if you reached out towards the screen to grab something in a game ( this would have to be Natal), and on screen it showed your hand reach towards something, that might be cool.

but only once.

I'll keep thinking. eventually I will have some idea that would make the motion tech something actually better that using a controller. But apparently thats not today.

I'm surprised they just didn't mention a skateboard. I guess a coffee mug makes a lot more sense right? The only thing Sony doesn't seem to be copying from Microsoft these days is making a profit.

Edit: Oops I didn't know about that demo.

ugghhhh natal sucks!!

nah but seriously it seems intresting to play justlike NATAL but if this was a normal eyetoy then NATAL would still have voice recognisiton (no way I spelled that right, right?) however we have not really seen very advanced things happening with either system

the PS eye has voice recognition aswell.

Check out my game about moles ^

Sweet. Maybe I can slay demons with my broom?

It is hard to say who copy whose. Especially when motion control is not new anymore.

Most companies are copying other companies' things. So this is why we can see Forza when there is already GT, we can see Lips when there is already SingStar, we can see XBox when there is already PS2.

An interesting thing to note- the guy who made the PS Motion also developed the EyeToy.
