Forums - Sales - European "Halo week" sales data is up

DS is still absolutely dominating though. More than 2x the next competitor (PSP). It's ridiculous.

I think Diomedes should change his nickname to "TheComplainer"... I mean, he complains about everything, both things which are real and things which aren't...

ioi should create a Diomedes filter... just a simple script that reads this:

"360 is overtracked. PS3 is undertracked. I live in Spain and no one likes Xbox here. The rest of Europe is the same because I am omnipotent".

It would save us all a lot of trouble reading his posts and trying to rebut.

Haha, true :)

Actually, I think he should just create a script that post that in every sales thread. It'd save him a hell of a lot of time.

ioi, Did you track the new green halo 360s this week? When the sales of the system completely doubles in europe, how does it only increase 19% after all the tons of evidence we've seen of people buying multiple systems in stores everywhere on launch night alone?

To put it in perspective, there were over 10,000 stores open for a midnight launch, if only 2 people bought a console at each store, that's already more than the increase you gave to the 360 hardware in the US. There's no way it just went up 19k, it went up 17k in THE UK ALONE.

We know sales trends tend to follow each other.  The UK is the best selling place for 360 outside of the US where it has a 1.4 million user base compared to 7.4 in US.   In other words it has 19% of the userbase of the US.  Now look at the software sales for halo 3, 2.6 in US and 460k in the UK.  In proportion, the uk sold 17.7% of what the US did in software.  That's almost perfectly in line with userbases.  Now, sales doubled for Hardware in the Uk, how could they not be very similar in the US realistically?

Even you said you expected it to be 200k from preliminary numbers.

Completed XBLA: 16 / 32
Completed Retail: 17 / 64
GS Completion %: 82.63%

Awesome.

Does anybody keep a list of ridiculous statements made on vgchartz?  If so, please add this one:

"In any case this is the heyday of the 360 with Halo 3 ,from now on its on the decline."

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Thanks Ioi, I needed a good laugh this morning. I almost fell out of my chair.

Good to see PS2 + PS3 sales are still > than XBox 360 sales even in the Halo 3 launch week. Now we wait for Japan....

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

Yes. I love this site and ioi is certainly doing a great job and so on, but I'm pretty sure he undertracked the X360 sales during Halo 3 week. I don't know what went wrong - if it was something with the sources or some mathematical extrapolation error - but there's no way the X360 only sold 125k last week in NA (compared to the "normal" 75,000/week we've seen since going into the fall season). I believe 170-200,000 X360's were sold in NA, and nearly 100,000 in the EU/others.

I'm actually pretty dissapointed in xbox360 sales, I thought it would be like 300.000 in Us only :S.
