Uncharted 2 is probably the most important and has the most potential to explode in popularity with mainstream casual gamers. |
Jeez, you're right. I know I said there's a lot more games coming out, but you're right, Uncharted 2 is arguably the most important. Doh!

If waht your saying is true about 70 million people still have not made a choice on which console to buy. Their are still people who only and buy games for their ps2. The ps3 needs about 8 million to catch up. I don't think it'll happen. Many people I know who had a ps2 moved to the 360. Hardcore ones went to the ps3 and some to wii. You saying that it is current ps2 owners. which is running out of. Their is proberly 20 million left more if they are still buying them. So no I don't agree with you |
The ps2 is still selling, and according to sony has sold 140 million consoles, you add GC and XB and you have nearly 190million consoles, and its growing..
There is no peak, the video game market is just now starting to be accepted as part of your daily life, just like the internet, and just like music before it.

The problem for the ps3 is not the price itself. It's the fact that Sony can't convince the mainstream audience it is worth the price.
Nintendo convinced many people that their product is worth it's price and more. Sony would have to do the same. Not just the same, but far better. Since Sony hasn't done it yet, it probably can't.
It's rather simple.

Well... I don't mess with the PS3, to be honest with you. It's kind of an amateur console. I'd like to say that it is a good system and all, but honestly, a simple way how you can find out if it's a gamer you want to play with is to ask them if they have a PS3. If they say yes, get the hell out of there. |
Awesome. Seriously, am I the only one that caught that? Anyways, IF the rumors are true of a PS3 slim (that doesn't look bad like the leaked pics) with BC that is launching at 300 are true, then yea I see it selling ridiculously high this holiday season (especially if GT5 launches around the same time), but to say it will sky rocket to first is blasphemy. I see it passing the 360 eventually...if the 360's price were to stay the same (which I know won't happen). Oh and not everybody that wants a 360, has one. I want one and I don't have one.
@snake eyes
Yes, I caught it too, but I dislike shia to near vomitting levels and had to clean some bile off my chin.

The wii and 360 are already cheap enough that anyone and everyone can afford them if they want.
Ps3 has never been priced at a consumer friendly range. $300 is a decent price though and makes a huge difference. |
On one hand people argue that the PS3 is greater value for money because of The Cell, Blu-Ray, PSN etc but now you've decided that sub 300 is the sweet spot for consoles regardless? I don't think so.........you can't argue it both ways. If the PS3 is seen by consumers to represent greater value than the competition then it stands to reason that it's sweet spot would be higher than the Wii or the 360 arcade and perhaps they have yet to hit their sweet spot.
Since we are dealing in 'IFs', drop the Wii by a hundred dollars and we will see just how many people thought it was too expensive at $250 or were just waiting for the price drop because as a matter of principle they won't pay $250 for any console.
