Pokemon or Dragonball most likely. Though back then, I was just watching whatever was on TV, and my first 'real' introduction to anime was with Hellsing. It's one of the few series I can still watch to this day, just because it's made of awesome. And I love the manga.

Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Slayers, Slam dunk, all that was on tv on the mid 90s when I was like 5, 6 or something like that. Then I moved on to others like gundam wing, HxH and rurouni kenshin.

Sailor Moon was on broadcast TV before school. I think it was elementary, but maybe middle school.
On the other hand, I somehow have vague memories of watching Gigantor. That was a crazy show.
To start with, the theme song:

And the show was such a contradiction. I saw some of it recently. It had surprisingly realistic action; characters were having a gunfight and taking cover behind cars, and then one of them threw a satchel bomb.
... And then a giant invincible flying robot saves the day.

The first ones I can still remember watching are Captain Future and The Wonderful Adventures of Nils but their where numerous other animes that where shown on German TV in the late 70's and early 80's.

I believe that it is called Gatchaman in Japan.

The first anime I watched not knowing it was anime was Captain Tsubasa spanish dub and it was awesome.
Some random show called "Ronin Warriors". Was mildly popular back in the early 90s. At the time I thought it was such a bad ass show. Looking back it seems kind of cheap and lame. But kids are easily impressed.
