@dsister : yeah, so what ? 360 installed base is double the PS3 installed base in the US, so we should exclude this country too ? Worldwide sales are worldwide.

| Tony_Parker said: Well we take worldwide sales, so Japan matters, like any other country actually... Or should we exclude some ? Let's exclude the US ok ? (I'm not sure I get your point ;) |
My point is that Resident Evil is a rare example of a shooter (since it is basically a shooter these days) that sells pretty well in Japan. I don't think it makes much sense to conclude that, because the PS3 version has marginally outsold the 360 version, VG Chartz must have majorly undertracked the PS3 or overtracked the 360. Especially since Resident Evil is much more strongly identified with the Playstation than with the Xbox.
Ok, I see the point... We'll see on future titles...

you said you didn't get his point. I explained his point.
And I can probably pull up every 360 game that outsells the ps3 version

Paradise probably sold better because the PS3 has yet to get a triple A racer, the 360 has Forza games.
What is with the 'thanks to Japan' comments? Is japan special? Do people say 'Thanks to the US' when a 360 game sells better? Unless a game is not released on a certain console in a certain region (like FF XIII) these comments are pointless. |
Yes, in this case, Japan is special. The PS3 enjoys a 3:1 install base advantage vs. the 360 there, and games in Japan tend to be extremely front-loaded and have shit for legs, so I'd expect the 360 version of RE5 to show better legs worldwide and outsell the PS3 version in the long run.
So taking RE5 sales and extrapolating that to say that there's not an 8 million gap between the PS3 and 360 worldwide is quite a reach.
yeah it have happens to almost all third party releases this year.
except shooters or game with timed exclusivity.

How on earth do you figure that? The PS3 holds its own quite well considering its smaller userbase, but the 360 version of a game generally sells more.

street fighter 4 RE5 tomb raider, and prince of persia, fifa, PES.
have sold more, i only seen heavy shooters like fear 2 sell more onthe 360 this year.
ps3 have 7 million less sales. yet either they keep the sale around close or surpass it.
tomb raider underworld i liked it alot, will give it another try soon , since it has trophy support now. and prince of persia havent played , but i think the sales on the ps3 versions outselling the 360 versions, were sorta expected since both were more ps brands .

Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, FIFA, and PES were all last year. Even with Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5, that is hardly "almost all third party releases."
