Forums - Sales - Paramount pictures to merge with SONY

I gotta call bullshit on this one...

Around the Network

the longer people try to deny BR taking over the longer it will take for prices to drop.

Stop fighting the inevitable. I followed BR and HDDVD when they were in battle, and at first I wanted HDDVD to win because the hardware was simply better. BR within two years, had all the advantages of HDDVD plus more AND had exclusive support of several companies.

People still resisted and resisted and resisted and then finally caved in. History will repeat itself on these very forums.

What's with all this Blu-ray talk? Paramount already releases movies on Blu-ray.

I got the summary from hip hop gamer, but didnt trust him as a source, so I found a better one.

That's a pretty damn big deal if true.

For those of you who don't know, Paramount has the rights to some pretty big films/films series, including:

Transformers

Iron Man

Any film from Dreamworks (so Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and more)

They also have the rights to the highest grossing film of all time (Titanic), if that counts for anything.

Holy Crap. Can someone give a kind of description of the benefit to Sony if this consolidation were to happen? Would Paramount evaporate with the exact way they do this? If it happens....

^you really ask how Sony will benefit?

Sony would now own a lot of the highest grossing box office hits: Transformers Spiderman Shrek and much much more. This merger would make Sony/Paramount at least as big as Disney, if not bigger.

If true, this is HUGE.

4 ≈ One

If true, this new merger would pass WB as the biggest studio out there

oddly, a large number of years ago i thought (wrongly) that Paramount was associated with Sony for some reason.

Maybe I came back from the future to avert world catastrophe. or something.
