Forums - Microsoft - Crackdown vs. Infamous

I'm playing inFaomous right now, and it's no Crackdown.

After just a few hours I'm bored from not being able to use any weapons besides electricity, not being able to drive around, not being able to jump around. etc.
Also the game world isn't nearly as big as I was hoping it would be.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

that's very shocking coming from you...NOT. By jump around do you mean leap tall buildings in a single bound?

OT: I think while the two game share many similarities, they cannot be directly pinned against one another, mainly because inFamous came out way after Crackdown. Also, this is not a thread about Crackdown if the title clearly states "Crackdown vs. inFamous". This belongs in Gaming discussion. Putting it in the MS forums makes it seem like you are begging for people to come and take your side.

crackdown........ the orbs the orbs must get the orbs...... also throwing the dead body of a guy to kill his friend and then have both bodies off the building on to other gang members below... man thats awesome.... oh and throwing a car at them

come play minecraft @  mcg.hansrotech.com

minecraft name: hansrotec

XBL name: Goddog

Gotta be honest, I love them both.

It's easy to draw comparisons between the two games, but I think as you invest more time into each game you'll find that Crackdown inspires more "sandboxy" gameplay and inFamous is a much more guided experience, with an actual narrative.

Because of that, the games are harder for me to compare. Like I said though, I have mad love for finding green orbs and I'm a sucker for that red electricity VERY interested in seeing what the sequels have to offer.

That's okay, I don't take the opinions of people who don't know how to spell "dude" "I'm" "your" "opinion" and "unbiased" very seriously.

I never said I had used all the powers, I said they were all related to electricity.  Is that wrong, are you saying I be able to unlock guns if I keep playing?  If not, what is your point?

There is a MAP of the entire city.  I may have only played for a few hours, but I can still see THE MAP.  Are you saying there are other parts of the map that are not visible until after the first few hours?  If not, what's your point?

My take here is, outside of the multiplayer angle, inFAMOUS is a superior game.  It actually has a plot, and a whole morality angle to it.  It takes off what Crackdown 1 had. In regards to weapons, inFAMOUS has equivalents to what you had in Crackdown, just electric based.  The system for finding booster items is superior also.

However, inFAMOUS is NOT Crackdown.  You have different power in it, so thus you don't jump like a maniac, or drive a car, but you do nasty damage with lightning.  And you get to heal people also for XP.  And there are submissions also.

On this note, I am VERY interested to see what Crackdown 2 will do.  If it does provided a persistent city of cops vs robbers, it will be awesome in its own right.

Crackdown is the game to own this gen.

So much fun. Yes... FUN.
Awesome gameplay.
Real Sandbox.

and the GREEN ORBS... OH MY... the green orbs!!!!

I tried the Infamous demo on my PS3 and was disapointed versus the Crackdown experience.
One day I'll give Infamous more time... but without vehicles, guns, orbs, teamwork... Infamous lacks some gameplay elements.

My Gaming Setup

A bunch of 360 fans claiming that a 360 exclusive is better than a PS3 exclusive? Who would have guessed? Please, at least don't lie and actually claim that your opinion is somehow unbiased. Just admit that you like one game better because it's on the platform that you like more, and you haven't played the other game enough to form an even halfway valid opinion. Have some dignity.

if i wanted to spell i wood.. tahnk u. U undestood wat i is sayin rite? ok then

Even though all the powers are related to electricity there is still a great variety of how to use it. You can use it as granades, a gun, a bazooka a schovkwave to propell and for fast travel around the city but i dont need to tell you that................. The city is not the biggest EVAR but it dosent need to be.... it takes a while to get around and if it was bigger it would be empty and pointless.... The story and the presentation of the game were outstanding...plus you have the choise of different powers w/ good and evil....not to mention the upgrades.....
