Forums - Gaming - What is the difference between Gran Turismo and Forza?

I'm not trying to ignite a fanboy war and ask which one is better, I don't care, I'm just curious what's different about them other than one is a Playstation franchise and the other is an Xbox franchise.

So don't tell me one has 500 cars and the other has 800, I'm not looking for that because that's not really the kind of difference I'm looking for.  Also, don't spout off things like texture resolution or this one looks better, I don't care about that either.

I'm just curious what is actually different about the game.  Do they both offer real world tracks or lifelike? Do they both offer real life cars?

Sorry for being clueless as I'm pretty clueless about racing games in general, I'm just curious.  These games look exactly alike as far as I'm concerned and I'm just wondering what drives people to say they're so different that one is definately better than the other.

it's like asking for a difference between one fighting game to the next- the differences are minuscule at best. I do know that both games are highly flammable and can ignite a fanboy war like that :p

One is on the XBOX 360, The other on PS3.

Name two fighting games and I'm sure people could come up with a list of significant differences.

I still can't think of any actual significant differences between Forza 3 and GT5, but then again, I don't really know anything about the games other than they're lifelike racing sims.

The games are similar. Fanboys will always disagree, but if I had a 360, I wouldn't buy a PS3 for Gran Turismo over Forza, or vice versa.

I believe that the Forza series allows for more tuning of your cars to a significant degree while GT series has alot more believability in in the sounds of the cars and also has some deals with licenses that Forza does not such as Nascar.

Haven't played either, don't like the genre, but those are the differences I have picked up on.

...

Uhh, I think Forza has mostly sport cars and such...

Gran Turismo has lots of shitty cars. I think it just got Nascar tracks + cars too, and some outdoor ones or something.

Forza has real cars - but GT has real cars AND concepts. I liked the Nike shoe car in GT4. This time, I think Forza may pull very close to GT. We'll see.

What, son, what? New York, New York!!!

1 is a driving simulator and the other a racing simulator...
