Forums - Microsoft - 360 graphics progression. The reality.

Both Forza 2 and SC:DA where based on last gen engines... thats not progression... progression is going from Gears 1 to Gears 2... its a visible leap but not a huge one ;) IMO you are skewing the reality a bit, and even though the 360 games came a looooong way they are not all that wowing anymore as they where at the beginning at the gen. Same is with PS3 to, tough after all that superiority talk I have to say that Uncharted 2 still impresses me...

But then I may not be objective here. ANyone who plays Crysis/Warheads on full settings will be dissapointed by the curent consoles capabilities...

Ms should build a frist party game enigne and what it can really do.
unreal 3 is good but it can do so much more

They are, at least according to rumors. Its supposedly called "X-Engine", or something like that.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

The problem with 360 is developer used middleware from PC to create game for the 360 hence it's always somewhat of a PC port. (Which it does better than PC to PS3 naturally) However PS3 1st and 2nd party developer used their own engine optimize for PS3 and it show in game like U2 and KZ2.

May be if MS 1st party would move off the PC engine and used engine optimize for 360.

X-Engine is nothing more than MS's answer to Sony's PhyreEngine, you know.  Its just an engine optimized for their platform, available for licensing to devs who want to use it.

Sounds about right, which is commonly known as a "game engine". They use it to make games. You know, for consoles.  they use discs of plastic called DVDs to run. Its really crazy, all this hippie martian technology. And they have something called "graphics". its what you see on the television when you run this "video game." http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=78013

I wonder how much better Halo: Reach can look compared to ODST. I know Bungie will not give up 4 player co-op and all the cameras you can follow from other peoples perspective. I know it will look much better than Halo 3 but I don't know if it will be a huge leap over ODST. I sure hope so but it wouldn't bother me if it wasn't much better.

Q: Why do people always use racing games as an example for "graphics prowess"?

A: What other genre can you have an unskinned, basically static mesh, with the absolute highest texture resolution possible, take up most of a screenshot?

If there's a genre where the 360 should shine, its racing.  Where else can you have minimal game logic and game data, with maximum textures, to utilize the unified memory architecture?  It would be a serious embarassment if Forza 3 didn't look a bunch better than GT5, for that reason... it should have like 1.5x the texture memory.

What does GT5 have to do with this thread?  This is a comparison of an early 360 game with its sequel that is coming out shortly.

Selnor knew exactly what he was doing and exactly what was going to come from this thread by posting Forza 3 screens.

you are seriously looking like a paranoid lunatic.

The games look nice, but I think a graphics comparison of the launch madden to madden 10 would be nice. now there is a huge leap (IMO)

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

Don't mind these negative comments this thread is a win. The Xbox 360 always provides great games even without good graphics.

The 360 has improved in leaps and bounds graphically, that is undeniable.
