Sorry mate, the facts don't lie. I'm being serious. So far, no console has used full body 3D motion tracking, or voice recognition. And definately not both at the same time. |
Actually, there are DS programs which use voice commands, and I'm not just talking about 'blow on the mic' commands. I'm pretty sure there are games on the 360 (maybe PS3) which also use voice commands. Some RTS game, IIRC.
As for Natal versus Eyetoy, they're similar in that they're both cameras. It really is like saying the WM+ is the same as the wiimote, though.

This is true, but do they have the software, and have/will they impliment it? Either way, until Nintendo impliments both 3D full body motion sensing, along with voice recognition software, they don't have a NATAL.

So what you are saying is, until Nintendo copies exactly what Natal is, they won't have Natal.
Well I will have to agree with you on that front.
As for the software... yes both DS and PS eye have voice recognition software, which is why I mentioned them before saying that thing about all microphones.

I wouldn't call it a game. It look more like arobics, you just score points for having correct form. It's not as much of a game as Wii Fit (or Active for that matter), and doesn't appear to have the coaching of Active. Great idea though, they just need to concentrate on making it fun (or at least fun for men, women might be more interested in this title though).

the PS3 or Playstation Eye have voice recognition and does have the ability to do 3D mapping.
even the Eye Toy on Ps2 had voice recognition and Object mapping (not full 3D) more like Color mapping.
i know i might start another argument with Natal worshippers but its true.... its all done before.

I don't know what you mean by 3D mapping.... but the PS eye is not a 3D camera.
If by 3D mapping you mean things like taking a picture of your face to put on the character you play in game, then that has nothing to do with a 3D camera.... that is just wrapping a 2D image onto a 3D object.

The thing I like about the Wiimote is the versatility. It can act as an NES pad, a more traditional controller augemented with waggle, or full motion in the right situation. I'm rather skeptical that Natal will find a particularly good use. The best uses of the Wiimote are either as an expanded analog controller (Mario Galaxy) or as stand-in for a RL item (Tiger Woods). Not sure whether Natal will really work in those situations.
Even though I'm skeptical, I'm really hoping Natal does well, more options and stuff for game developers is always nice, if it works well, it could do some cool things.

Wow ok. The Natal camera is not just one camera but two 3D cameras. They can register depth as well as the standard stuff cameras like the eyetoy register. The fact that it's 2 cameras gives it more versatility and allows it to differentiate between different people and objects. Voice command and voice recognition are not the same thing. Sometimes these to techs can be called the samething (voice recognition). Voice command is simply a device that's able to register voice and coupled with the right software gives actions to the words and phrases it registers.
Voice recognition in the way Natal implements the term is being able to not only register voice, but doing it more intelligently. Instead of relying almost entirely on software, Natals' hardware can do most of the registering AND assigning on it's own. More importantly, Natal can differentiate once again between different people. Natal essentially can distinguish your voice from that of a friends or family member. The hardware is also advanced enough that when coupled with appropriate software allows for recognition of tones and emotions in both voice and facial recognition.
It's really annoying when people claim that Natal is the same as other cameras in video gaming today. People that claim this nonsense should be banned for excessively absurd trolling and flamebaiting! Next time anyone gets stuck on this nonsensical nonsense, ask yourself: If the existing camera tech you are considering was truly as innovative and advanced as the Natal camera, why aren't it's manufacturers using it?
