SD Wii is not true 7th generation console and is floating somewhere in purgatory. It needs to be HD to really be a part of this gen apparently.

I really don't see this happening. What about the gamers who want a WiiHD but bought a WiiSD? Will Nintendo offer a refund to those adopters? I think if Ninny did offer an HD version, it would confuse folks to the fullest. It wouldn't have Blu Ray, cost more than the regular Wii (IMHO).

The Wii is not about awesome graphics - never was. It was about games. I think hardcore HD gamers will actually steer clear of this model. Maybe I am wrong, but ...

He never said that it will have 360/ps3 graphics, he stated that it will be more like. The title of this thread misleading. A HD wii game will not look a whole lot different then a sd wii have aside from the resolution boost.  New wii hd games still need to be compatible with the old wii.

After being on the market for (roughly) a decade HDTV adoption "Skyrocketed" to 25% in 2008 primarily because of how few SDTVs remained on the market, and how high demand large screen flat pannel displays are. As time goes on and more people buy (very) large TVs and are exposed to the difference between SDTV and HDTV it is likely that HD will become a necessary feature for a videogame console ... This is not going to happen in the next 24 months.

We have already passed the 100 Million console sold mark this generation, and I think it is fairly safe to assume that most of the people who haven't bought into this generation are also the kind of people who don't see much value in HDTV.
