I have no problem with anyone enjoying a bad movie.  But I do object to $200 million dollars being used to make one, $200 million dollars that I would rather see spent on making good movies.

Only so many movies can be made a year, there is only so much money to go around to fund them, people to make them, theatre slots to show them.

Personally, with that amount of money, etc. then I expect the level of effort to be taken to deliver at least a good action movie.

Although, given you have a finite lifetime, wouldn't you rather spend it on something good than something bad?  If you had the choice, wouldn't you rather have given your time to something of the quality of say Raiders vs Transformers 2?

Now admitedly most people change their views with age, and at 43 (shit!) I simply won't give my time to anything that's not good, be it food, music, movies, etc. and that of course informs my views.

Of course, with kids, I do occasionally find myself watching something like Transformers 2, although at least the time was spent enjoying being with my kids so it wasn't all a waste.

Eh. Transformers 2 will end up being very, very profitable. Just think of it as potential funding for much better movies, if that makes you feel better.

And yes, given a choice, I would rather see good movies, but I think it's more to say that I would rather have a good experience. I had a good experience watching Transformers 2 with my family. Not as good as I had watching Up, but Hell, what works at that level every week?

Ah... the bad movies pay for the good ones arguement.

I've never bought that.  Transformers 2 is much more likely to fund Transformers 3 (and maybe another bad summer movie) than fund something better.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

This was a horrible film. Not a "good action movie"--I've seen good action movies. I love good action movies. This was a crap action movie, worse than Pearl Harbor (!). ID4 was Shakespearian compared to this. I'd rather see another Matrix sequel than watch this again.

Why so bad? Along with all of this film's many other sins ("plot," characters, dialogue, etc.), it was freaking boring. Not only was the original Transformers cartoon more intelligent than this steaming load, the action sequences were better; you actually knew who was who and cared about some of the characters. The opening battle scene from the cartoon movie is better than this entire film.

imo :)

I did not like the first one, but my friends went to see this one as well so i went with them, again i was dissapointed its just a bad movie.

The only good thing about is megan fox

All the hate in this thread...

360 Games Now Playing   360 Games unopened:  Resonance of Fate  Last 360 Game I Beat: Resident Evil 5

DS Games Now Playing: Dragon Quest VI  DS Games unopened Knights in the Nightmare, Etrian Odyssey III, Okamiden, Dragon Quest IX Last DS Game I beat: Radiant Historia

Wii Games Now Playing  Super Mario Galaxy 2, Arc Rise Fantasia  Wii  Games unopened  Little King's Story, Sonic Colors, Silent Hill Shattered Memories Last Wii Game I beat: Sin & Punishment 2

According to Box Office Mojo, it's at $250 million domestically. I wonder how big this weekend will be for the film.

I work at a movie theater so thankfully I didn't have to pay to see it :D

Yes it has had big sales, but Harry Potter 6 will be bigger.

Harry Potter will not be bigger. Remember, only one Harry Potter film made over $300 million domestically. The rest were below that. Transformers 1 made $319 million, and it's sequel is about to overdo that within the week. That's my logic.

Now, if you're talking worldwide, you may be right. Harry Potter is massive in Europe and elsewhere, so it could do great. But Transformers 1 made $700 million worldwide, and the sequel is catching up fast there too, so it will be a close fight.

America does not equal the world. Of course he was talking worldwide. These days, America is becoming less and less significant when it comes to the box office. Domestic gross isn't as holy as it used to be.

i cant believe all the hate this movie is getting in this thread, everyone i know likes the movie. also harry potter 6 has alot too prove after the last one, also remember that their isnt anymore books coming out too help its sales. i think transformers 2 will gross over 800million ww.

Yes, you are probably right.

But if you look at it that way, the first movie funded this one.

Just hope that TF3 is better.
