Based on what we've seen so far this generation, do you feel that any genres on the decline or even possibly nearing extinction?

JRPG's mostly. The only shining saviour in sight is Final Fantasy XIII.



Platformers

though to be fair they have been dieing since the ps1 era

Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Sly Racoon, Mario?



Shmups. They're still around, but only seem to be apparent to a handful of gamers who crave them.

platformers. We hardly see them as the next big game unless its some big franchisee like mario. They are getting less and less every gen. Nintendo tries to keep it alive which means it won't die anytime soon but can be weakened

Yall forgot about Side scrolling shooting games ( Ravage, Ikaruga)...As far as I'm concerned, I only saw remakes and not new games.
