Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's that one.  In japanese, you just pronounce each vowel separately, even when they're right next to each other.  There aren't a bunch of extra pronounciation rules (silent Es, etc.) as there are in english.

Swee-ko-den is just kind of su-ee-ko-den sped up though, if you think about it.  You'll probably get closer to the right pronounciation if you don't think of it as Swee, however, and just try to say "Su-ee" without sounding like you've been lobotomized.

Now that makes everything so much easier. It is pretty much what I do with Spanish when I try to pronounce words.

What? Swee-Ko-Den or Soo-Ko-Den

no its pronounced So-Ri-Ku

Actually, I guess it's more like Soo-ee-ko-din.

I've never heard it pronounced any other way.

Yes.  It's a Japanese title and as such, the i sounds like an e and the 'den' at the end sounds like the 'din' in 'dinner'.

If you really want to get phonetic about it, it would be sue-ee-koe-din.  Using English sounds.

A lot of Japanese can be easily understood when you just learn the changed vowel sounds.  Which it doesn't help that, when writen in 'Romanji' (roman letters), they don't always sound like what they look like.  For me, Japanese is a language that is much easier to understand when heard spoken.  Whereas something like English is the exact opposite.

Su-i-ko-den, the way it's written.

Of course I am pronouncing the vowels like in the German language, because that always seems to fit for Japanese names, like Baten Kaitos. So for you native English speakers, Su-i-ko-den would have a "u" like in "bush", "i" sounds like "e", "o" like in "got" and "e" like in "send".

This.
