Here in Europe, both the PS3 and 360 have been heavily bundled almost all the time. I think Sony does it to add value at low cost, and Microsoft just follows.

sony needs bundles to sell systems. microsoft uses bundles often too. nintendo hasnt really needed to do any of those things yet. however its getting a MH3 bundle with a new colour in japan as it is struggling. nintendo bundles will probably come in the west in 2010 as a precursor to a pricecut. i like that sony does so much bundles as it mkaes them seem more pro active

Bundling is probably a good way to pip sales a bit without having to cut the price. It adds value and consumers respond to that. Given Sony's financial shape bundling is probably a very attractive way to keep sales up without price cuts which they can ill afford. Its odd though that Nintendo doesn't seem enthusiastic about bundling with the Wii (bar WS).
If Nintendo did a bundle with Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Mario Kart...I'd be all over it like brown on rice
