Could someone please explain this for me?

PSP 3000 is $169.99.
PSP Go is $249.99.

How is it a 68% increase in price (or double for some people) if the increase is $80 which isn't even 50% of 170?

Wouldn't the price increase actually be less than a 50% increase? FAR from the exaggerations I have been seeing here.

i guess Zen divided 169.99 by 249.99 (169.99/249.99 = 0.68), which doesn't make sense at all

maybe people were too exhausted reading and trying to understand Zen's argument, didn't realize the point he brought up to support his argument has flaws.

Well, I picked up on it right away and for anyone to think that 45-48% is "close enough" to 100% is absolutely insane!

Then to act like 12% on the other hand is a huge deal makes me shake my head even more.

What makes me shake it most however is the fact that people act like it is set in stone that people who purchased games already are shit out of luck and when people say that Sony is working on something they act like it is irrelevant. So Sony saying they are working on it means nothing but speculation with nothing to back it up is relevant.

Then let us remember that never will anyone be forced to buy this version either as the PSP-3000 will remain on sale along with the Go.

Sometimes I just do not understand some people.

The Dell deals lasted more then several days. I'm a veteran on CAG and pretty much have no life when in comes to browsing that site. Nice try tho. Even at other times the normal price was $130-$140 which is still by far cheaper.

Also I still don't get the increase, flash memory is not that expensive at all and the only think your netting is a smaller screen some cheap internal flash memory. How the hell is the battery life weaker to?

I don't think It's a price cut that needs to happen with the PS3 and Sony, It's more of a management overhaul when it comes to people designing these things. Someone needs to get fired ASAP.

It's just that simple.

For the last time, the price is due to the sexy design and to the portability. It's not linked to the features.

Any product is sold at the price people think they'll make the most profit. For the PSP Go, Sony thinks it'll sell well at 249$. I think they're right. (but only time will tell)

For the last time, the consumer rules the market. It's not linked to what Sony thinks is the right price.

I think they're wrong (but only time will tell).

Yeah, of course consumer rules. But a 12 year old American kid is often worse than a whole marketing division to guess the good price of a device.

Now time will tell.

@MonstaMack

Dell.com price means nothing. Majority of retailers sell the PSP Core pack for $169.99. That is the original retail price.

Just because one companies decides to have deals (which are limited quantity) doesn't mean that the price offered everywhere else means nothing.

Am I understanding you correctly?

Because just think, if Dell.com offers the Go for $200 what will you complain about then? Not the $250 price I hope.

They thought 599 US dollars was a good price too. Sony does not learn. People will not buy a machine that has no real upgrades at 250 when they can get one significantly cheaper. It will be DOA except for hardcore Sony fans.
