Any product is sold at the price people think they'll make the most profit. For the PSP Go, Sony thinks it'll sell well at 249$. I think they're right. (but only time will tell)

They thought 599 US dollars was a good price too. Sony does not learn. People will not buy a machine that has no real upgrades at 250 when they can get one significantly cheaper. It will be DOA except for hardcore Sony fans.
