Forums - Sales - Famitsu first day sales

Not necessarily, 155K first day, means probably 200K-350K by end of the first week

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

No 155,000 is a great day one total. It will be over 300,000 for the week - it has June 26, June 27, and June 28 yet. It has a shot at 400,000 for the week.

I wonder if Nintendo will ship extra copies this week. Otherwise, sales should hit 300-325k.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I suspect they'll have to. It isn't going to drop off quickly with a fanbase of over 3 million from the previous title.

Gotcha, thought it was 2 day week.

Marvelous :( Even Valhalla Knights on PSP can't help them a bit.

If the game was on Wii there'd be a ton of posts about how Wii can't sell third party SW >_> But a VH Wii is coming soon...

It's pretty much a re-release of a game that wasn't popular to begin with, no surprise here.

now all that remains to be seen is if WSR is moving hardware as well as software

Good, but not overwhelming opening for WSR.

Japan should be its weak region though, because of no WS bundle.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

Will Wii Sports get a bump?

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Wii Sports has been selling at about 1/3 to 1/5 the rate the Wii has sold in recent weeks in Japan. ~4.1k vs 18k this week.

If Wii Sports Resort pushes Wii to 40k or something this week, I would think Wii Sports 1 would only sell at about a 1/6 to 1/8 rate of what the Wii sells. So it will get a bump but attach at a lower rate to Wii hardware. That should be the pattern long term as Wii Sports becomes slightly less essential to the Wii experience in Japan every time a new game...like a Wii Fit, a Wii Music or a Wii Sports Resort comes out.

So figure it will jump to 6k or something this week.
