Only Sony-fans believe PS3 can win this gen. Sane people know it will be Wii.

IMO only a fanboy can reject the idea there's any possibility, especially this early in the game.

Is it still possible for the PS3 to win this generation? Certainly. Is it likely? No.

My predictions.

Wii, 135 Million.

The Wii will become the best selling console of all time. It's massive third party support and casual market lead its way to victory.

PS3, 55 Million

The PS3 will sell worse than its predecessors due to high price and niche market, but will sell good due to it being a Blu-Ray player.

360, 36 Million

The 360 will sell tremedously in USA due to its appealing shooters, but will succumb to the PS3 due to format failure and loss of japanese market.

So far this is a better analysis than that guy.

 lol, nice analogy.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

The HD consoles are one generation behind the Wii, not vice versa.

I would disagree.

Microsoft and Sony have both taken a step forward as has Nintendo.  They're just no longer all walking in the same direction.

I don't think that you can call Microsoft's and Sony's decisions a step forward. Their consoles don't grow the market, which should be a given considering that so many people still don't play videogames, there's enormous room for growth in this industry.

Both companies are failing to grow the market and especially Sony fails to keep people interested in videogames, let alone spark new interest. That's stagnation or even worse, a step backwards.

I do not think it is quite so definitive as "Nintendo is growing the market, Microsoft and Sony are not."  Of course, that is my opinion.

That said, I do not see stagnation in the future of video games.

Hee hee ... why you are playing, I have some stashed away as well. You never know!!!!

People that think HD will make any difference are delusional.
Halo 3 proved that people won't see the difference between HD and lesser resolution, which destroys the main selling point of HD consoles.
Most people actually believe the Wii games are better looking than the XB360 and PS3 ones.
Hoping for all those people that buy HDTV because they are flat, and connecing them through composite, to become home theater fans just because they bought a HDTV without even understanding what HD is, is pure wishful thinking.

As for the stupid analysts, they sure make for a good laugh.

I honestly don't understand why so many people think that third-parties will miraculously start supporting PS3 and abandon all else. Third party sales have not been blockbuster yet due to the smaller userbase and games that were heavily hyped just aren't selling the way they could on the 360. By the beginning of next year, 360 will most likely have an even larger gap between the PS3 and it will still seem like a more viable source for 3rd party games.

Furthermore, graphics have shown not to have this glorious hold over consumers that analysts seem to have a delusion about. Some keep expecting Sony to go gangbusters, but the truth is, a console does not go crazy until something new, big, and revolutionary comes along. While PS3 does have many AAA titles coming next year, who knows how far they will have fallen behind these holidays.

Never argue with an idiot.  They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I have been preaching this for a while ... I don't see a surge of developers jumping on the PS3 bandwagon ... yet more and more *analysts* saying the brand is gonna be victorious. Unfortunately, these *analysts* are not gamers - and don't understand the overall picture, just a business aspect. They are under the impression that developers won't mind losing money and eating pork and beans instead of steaks. Uh, yeah ... don't get me wrong - maybe I don't see the big picture, but I do know one thing - the PS3's attach rate is dismal.

The only way the PS3 will win this fight is if a legion of crackheads hijack several truckloads of trucks and distributing them for free. The PS3 has yet to hit that stride their chief stated six months out ...

This guy is predicting some exteemly high numbers for the PS3 and 360. There's no way the PS3 will reach 60+m, and no way in hell the 360 will reach 36m. For the 360 to sell 36m, it will have to put up, like, 25m in the US alone. After 2 years, the 360 only has sold 7m in the US. 36m seems out of the 360's rang.
