Forums - Sales - Xbox 360 more wanted than playstation 3?

I'm amazed... If you sell the same number of product as your competitor with a twice as high pricing, then of course consumers see more value in your product.

If they saw the same value in PS3 and 360, of course they would buy mostly the cheaper product, it wouldn't be roughly 50/50.

But ok, let's pretend Earth is flat.

$199 definitely being attractive than $399, still hasn't brought any major shifting in 360 sales...PS3 is still selling close weekly shy of 15-20k.

Of course it brought a major shift gameanalyzer, since PS3 was killing the 360 in worldwide sales BEFORE the price cut, and now the sales are on par (they were even widely better for 360 during last christmas due to the price cut).

Price IS a major factor, especially in a big recession like this one.

Price is indeed a major factor but somehow its a more important factor for MS then for Sony, I guess that is because the PS3 is seen as a more classy system while the Xbox 360 is seen as the cheap but still good way out

Currently playing: MAG, Heavy Rain, Infamous

Getting Plat trophies for: Heavy Rain, Infamous, RE5,  Burnout and GOW collection once I get it.

Why didn't we close this thread already? You mods are very selective. I'm losing more and more faith in the VGC staff every day. (STAFF, not MANAGEMENT..theres a big difference)

Assuming the people who want one enough to buy one are the only people who should count, then as we all know, the real order is this:

Wii
360
PS3

Anything else is complete and utter spin.

No, not spin. Price is definitely a factor. I bet a lot more people want a Ferrari than a Honda Accord, but we all know there are more people with Accords than Ferraris. They just choose not to buy a Ferrari because it's too expensive. But if a Ferrari was the same price as an Accord, well....I'll just let you take a crack at which vehicle people would buy.

Good analogy, no?

$199 v.s $399

The highest selling 360 SKU is $299 and WiFi alone brings that to $399 so don't so more people buy 360 cause it's cheaper than PS3, cause technically 360 IS more expensive due to add-ons......stop playing the price game to try and redeem PS3 from it's #3 position hardware & software sales wise.

PREDICTIONS:
(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

Also, people (Tony_Parker, now), need to stop saying they are selling the same. The 360 has constantly outsold the PS3 by 15-20% since the price drop and that still has not changed. The only reason they appear closer now is that they are both selling much less so the 15-20% is a smaller number than it was before.

Is Tony_Parker a new alt account for Tim_Duncan?

No, your example is flawed because you assume that the ONLY determining factor is price.

There are a whole host of reasons someone would choose one console over the other that have nothing at all to do with price.

It's all about price man. Plus, how many true exclusives (that AREN'T timed exclusives) does the PS3 really have? I would say that the Xbox360 has just as many.

Hardware is only a means to enjoy great games!
