No idea, but I'm on my fourth PS3! Yup, I'm someone who stands out from the crowd, who's different... and who burns out PS3s better than anyone else...
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

If we are going with the most recent hardware revisions I'd say your numbers are more than accurate. The 360 failure rate could be even lower now.
Granted it's only been about 7-8 months since Jaspers launched, but I haven't heard of a single one breaking yet which is a positive sign!
| Squilliam said: I would say that the PS3s tend to die outside of warranty whilst the Xbox 360s tend to die inside of warranty, so the rate of unwarranted failures are: Wii 1% PS3 8% Xbox 360 3% |
The Squilliam failure rate is also increasing!
Do you have warranty?

No idea - but glad I have 'Continuous Play' cover in UK, so no big repair bill yet.

I was googling the net and it seems that (talking about consoles launch models) PS3 failure rate was 40% and X360 failure rate about 84%. Wiis... well, you can't go wrong with a chip smaller than your smallest nail.

Lol wow that is horrible!
from experience:
PSP: 0%
PS3: 66%
PS2: 66%
360: 0%
More general, overall:
Wii: 2%
PS3: 5%
360: 15%
Wii: 1-2% at the most. Rarely heard stories about Wii dieing.
PS3: 3-5% Some problems here and there with the YLOD, but I've never personally heard anyone who's ps3 died.
360: 20% at the very least, I've heard so many stories and complains, I can't see it being under 20%. A friend of mine had to return it a grand total of five times. Even if the newer models are more reliable, you can't just ignore the millions that broke during the first two years of it's lifespan.

Ever feel as if that might just be your personal experience? Just because you have heard something more than another does not mean it's true. As for your second point, I don't even see how YLOD rising and RROD declining has anything to do with Wii vs. PS3 failure rates. Yes, RROD is on the decline. Down is the only way it can go from the initial 33% failure rate that some sources were reporting. But YLOD on the rise? That's another point that I think you simply made up and are using as a fact. |
lol, what thread were you reading? This thread is about console falure rates, not Wii vs. PS3 failure rates.
