Forums - Sales - What happened to Layton in the US?

Seriously, it seemed like the game would stagnate at about 300k some months ago.

But suddenly, it started to take off and currently it is at about 700k.

What happened? Did they eventually start advertising?

I think it might have been word of mouth, but I'm not sure. Game is doing amazingly well, though. Level 5 have got a money cow on their hands :)

You're right - it really boomed. http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=America&game1=Professor+Layton+and+the+Mysterious+Village+-+DS&reg2=America&game2=&reg3=America&game3=&weeks=100&weekly=1

I believe the answer is; DSi.

It started escalating the week before DSi, though. From 6 to 12K, then DSi released and boomed it up.

Didnt it also coincide a lot with the European release?

It has had some great advertising for it.

Word of mouth also helps.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

word of mouth probaly. my friend bought it when it came out, and told a few people including me. i bought it before it got really popular, and started telling people to buy it.
