Forums - Nintendo - Conduit: Kinda fun, but underwhelming and outdated.

no hate from me^^ i think everyone can (and should) have his own opinion.

here is mine ;)

so far i LOVE this game. i have played it for 3 hours and it is really a fun game. awesome controlls and nice grafix. multipayer is a blast and i really dig the soundtrack.

i would give it a 8.5/10. normally i would say its a 9 but after 3 hours i am at 70%...its my only complain. it is too short.

I hate regenerating health. It eliminates the survival element of weighing the value of using rare ammo to finish a fight quickly or taking a beating and struggling to reach the next health pack.

Yea, it has made current-gen games too easy. "Back in my day" lol, you had to play smart for a health pack. Now you can go Rambo, take a step back, and go back to obliterating everything. Slight strategy isn't even there as much with regenerating health.

But alas, I respect this guys opinion and his ability to say it. I hope he tried online.

Do research next time

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true. 2nd UPDATE: I have no Switch 2. I am now behind

I like the non-regenerating health. makes it harder to survive though a level.

^But your health does regenerate, you just aren't far along in the game to where you get the power suit.

Currently enjoying: Monster Hunter Tri.

So far, so good. I was thinking it was too easy at first (especially as I am generally not any good at FPS, but was doing well). However, I am stuck at the end of I think part 3. Just too many portals... I'll play more tomorrow.

Some of the graphics are fairly good like the water effects, but the levels are a little too linear so far (at least you don't have to worry about getting lost). However, I do agree some do seem kind of bland. Not sure about your complaints about controls, but I haven't really wanted to lean out of cover yet. The levels are a little plain, and only a few things are destructible, which should be nothing special these days.

I'll definitely keep my copy, but I rarely return copies. Not a 10, but a solid 8 if not 9 assuming the multi-player is good (which I haven't tried yet). I can understand why some might give it a 7, but anything lower and people are likely showing a bias.

It took me 10 tries to get through that part...

I was seriously torn today between getting The Conduit or getting Grand Slam Tennis.  Man...I should've gotten tennis.  Let me start off by saying I think that Metroid Prime 3 is fantastic (I plan on getting the trilogy) and so is Medal of Honor Heroes 2, so my feelings on The Conduit so far have nothing to do with "being spoiled" by the HD FPS games.  The graphics are blah.  Bland repetitive environments.  I thought this was supposed to be a stunning looking Wii title.  The gameplay/controls are blah.  Same few enemies over and over with pretty stupid AI.  Why can't I twist the remote or nunchuck to lean out of cover like in MoHH2?  Health pickups?  Are you kidding me?  Get up to speed with modern shooters that have regenerating health.

Since there's some fun to be had, I'll definitely stick with the game and beat it at least once, maybe twice to get my money's worth.  Most likely, this one won't earn a permanent spot in my library.  It will probably end up as trade fodder towards a more worthy title.  Don't believe the hype on this one.  Sorry, I know I'll probably take a lot of heat for this.

Why? You can customize your controls and the customization is the best that I saw in my entire life...

No offense, but regenerating health never made sense in FPSs. Actually, it makes them too easy.

I've yet to buy a copy of The Conduit, but all the bad things you said about it aren't really a problem for me.

Last thing... Are you seriously complaining about repetitive enemies? Where have you been all this time? o_O

It does have health regeneration, but only minorly and very slowly, with health pickups... You get it after the first level... It is a top conteder for the best combination.

We already had a thread on the subject of Health regen vs. meters. I would know. I was the OP:

http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=71147&page=1

Why did the Conduit get slammed by a previewer for collecting health orbs "unrealistically" (a la Devil May Cry/Ninja Gaiden), instead of using Health regeneration, when the whole game is about shooting ALIENS?

I don't think you are very far in the game. Your health regenerates once you get the power suit. What difficulty are you playing on, Guarded? I'd play on the difficulty either severe or the one before it. How do the controls make you upset, you can change anything to whatever you want, and completely change the sensitivity. The graphics have even been said by 360 fanboys to be great, i don't know what's up with your eyes.

The reason you can't lean is because you are playing a fast paced game not a slow duck and cover game. This game is just like GoldenEye and Perfect Dark. You really aren't suppose to stop and take cover then take all the time in the world to lean. No game uses that function but the PSP port with bland environments and graphics and no storyline, by the name of Medal of Honor Heroes 2.

As i said, your health does regenerate, you just didn't get to the part where you have the black and blue power suit yet? And the part should be coming up soon.

I don't understand this part: I think that Metroid Prime 3 is fantastic (I plan on getting the trilogy) and so is Medal of Honor Heroes 2, so my feelings on The Conduit so far have nothing to do with "being spoiled" by the HD FPS games.

Metroid Prime 3 and MoHH2 are not HD. No Wii game is HD. You just sound like a troll. This could be just a false post from some 360 player who is mad to see The Conduit get good reviews across the board and so far good sales.

I'm relieved to hear that I will eventually gain regenerating health.  As for my HD comment.  Since the Wii is kinda short on quality FPS, I meant that some people will likely feel that someone who doesn't like a particular Wii FPS is only trying to compare it to successful FPS on the PS3 (which I also own) or 360.

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.
