Forums - Nintendo - Question about Rock Band 2

Well I preordered Rock Band 2 today on Wii (yes I know, Europe is only getting it this week, har har) and I wanted to know something that's been playing on my mind, but none of the reviews mention: Quickplay.

In Quickplay, are the songs sorted into groups (a la GH3) or are they a big wall of songs (like GH:WT). I CANT STAND Guitar Hero: WT's quickplay on Wii, with it's big wall of songs, totally difficult to pick anything from, and its tiny little high scores you cant read. That's another thing: are there high scores on RB2's Quickplay screen, and are they visible?

You may think its strange, but once ive been through career once, aside from a spot of online, quickplay is where its at for me, learning the songs and shooting for high scores. Which is why Guitar Hero World Tour was so damn annoying to me, it's quickplay was atrocious.

Thanks

The quickplay song selector is very sleek and clean.

Looks like that.

There are tons of organizer options, and I have had no trouble reading the text.

The Highscores are on the menu, but it doesn't give you the info on stars, just the scores.

I own all of lastgen systems as of October 2008. (Finally got a Dreamcast)

I own every currentgen system except PS3.

Another question, Can the game read SDHC cards, or just SD cards? I know WT only works with SD cards.

"I don't know if anyone else has clearly explained that when you power down your Wii console (red light not orange) that you have to remove your 4GB non-HC SD Card before you power up and access your RB2 game.

I have been successful doing the following: I power up the console, insert the disc, and select RB2. I then let the game reach the "Loading" screen. Once I reach the "Loading" screen, I then insert my 4GB non-HC SD Card, hit my A button, and all is well.

The "Loading" screen is a pause point in the game that forces you to "Continue" by hitting the A button. It is the screen right after the Rock Band 2 + screen and the one right before you enter into your play options (career, quickplay, etc.).

I also want to suggest that while you're in RB2 that you go into the Options/Data Manage screen and manually Save the game to ensure you've properly captured your progress.

Hope this helps... I saw others having issues when they too powered down and this appears to work without a hitch. I will agree that you don't have to do this when you "orange light" or sleep mode your console -> what happens when you hold the power button on your controller in order to shut the console and controller off. I believe when you completely shut down, the console memory (RAM) gets cleared and that creates a start from scratch scenario."

Hope that helps.

If anyone plays online, I'm desprete for an online band. :P

I can pass expert on Guitar/Bass.

Haven't touched Vocals

And Everysong on Hard/Expert on Drums.

Thats about a 4 GB SD card, i have an 8 G SDHC card, and it wont work with GHWT DLC. RB2 was released before firmware 4.0 also, so im wondering if its compatable.

Wow, I really think developers would make more money if they launched games at the same time world-wide. I mean I've had RB2 on my Wii since Christmas, and I am sure there are several people in Europe and other places that would have got it then if it was available but now it is not "top of the line" as there is a Beetles one coming out in a few months - I mean it wouldn't be much of a difference but why make customers who want to give you money wait - it just doesn't make sense.

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

SDHC from what I read, will not work.

RB2 has the best song sorting I've ever seen. You can sort by decade (perfect for me that I 90% of the times play 80s and older), by genre, by difficulty, by A-Z band, A-Z song and by difficulty.
Also, the display of the album cover and the difficulty by instrument is wonderful

You won't have any problem with that, I'm sure of that.

Well that's good to hear about the quickplays, thanks guys, I'm looking forward to it :D. Luckily I've been using a 2GB card for Guitar Hero DLC that I'm sure I can stretch to RB2 as well and save myself the complications. I love how you can see album art in the song selection, that's a great touch.
