Forums - Sony - Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Online?

Did you guys know you can play Monster Hunter online?  I didn't!  I was reading up on Monster Hunter:FU (love that acronym!) and was really disspointed to learn that they didn't build online coop into it.  But then I saw someone talking about how to get the game running online.

  Here's the link.

So, it turns out getting a game going online is as easy as having a PS3 and downloading something from the Japanese PSN store.  I already have a Japanese PSN account.  Now I'm excited!

Is anyone else around here planning on playing online?

Anyway, I've been thinking about buying a PSP, as some on the site already know.  One of my favorite types of games are RPGs which can be played online -- I think of them as kind of like a nicotine patch for my old MMO addiction :)  (One reason I'm really disappointed in White Knight Chronicles being delayed.)  Is anyone else interested in playing this online?  Is there anything I should know before I take that last step and buy myself a PSP?

Is the lag over Ad-Hoc play bad/not bad?  What model of PSP is the best?  (I'm thinking of getting a cheap older/used one now, and if I like it getting a newer one in a year or so.  That way I can eventually have two

Also, if you have any super compelling reasons for why I should buy a PSP, give me that last push I need.  (I'm hoping at least Wenlan will want to play Monster Hunter online!)

i was on the fence, because i know it WILL take away most of my gaming time.

if we have more people firmly committed to play co-op together, i will get it.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

Yeah, I'm feeling the same way about it Wenlan.  I can feel the hours slipping away versus that looks like fun.

buy an wifi max and install xlink kai
the best psp is the 2000

the best psp is 3000 , or you rather wait for PSP go? ,
anyways there is ALOT of people play this game on adhoc party. so you don't have to worry.

it would be quite challenging to play MH on PSP Go
also, seems like Capcom is not going to put MHFU on PSN

The best psp depends if you want to illegally download games and have custom firmware or not.  Custom firmware can be had on both the 2000 and the 3000 but the 3000 isn't as supported yet.  Also I've heard that certain games, for example Disgaea don't look as on the 3000 screen.

They will put it on PSN soon , but they want to release the UMD first.
