There will be a new Generation of the Playstation Consoles, but not in the near future. But im looking forward to it. and also to the next Xbox and Nintendo generations.

Ok. The first comment was about HDD for the future M$ console. Not necessarily a HDD, but internal memory. I should've put it as "up to tens of gigabytes" (may vary in size).

And the latter considering the 360 specs. You mentioned the specs having 720p for all the games, and i mentioned that i've understood it's the console output with the upscaler in it. The 720p/15fps was the minimum resolution/framerate that the games are viewed in HD according to specs.

This is what im talking about something like the OCZ 16GB SSD which retails for $60 on Newegg (Probably will cost $20 to install by the time 2010 rolls around). It can do 110MB/S read speed compared to only 64MB/S for the fastest 500GB 5400RPM notebook drive. That performance delta can only improve between now and then and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw upwards of 200MB/S transfer speeds. Link

With 16GB of flash they could essentially provide about the same HDD capacity as the initial 20GB Xbox 360s with 4-6GB reserved for cache etc and the final 10-12GB available for data. They could essentially satisfy 70% of the populations storage needs with something that would cost them less than the cost of a mechanical HDD with vastly improved performance as well.

I would say the bottom end of the 720P specification won't be an issue with upgraded hardware. The real question is how much performance will be standard, rendering at 1920/1080 for full 1080P spec is a waste and most people won't notice much of a difference, however they may have to do it so they can strike that marketing check box.
