As far as I'm concerned, every game sold on Virtual Console is still selling even if its over a decade old.But does the site add up the numbers?Does it track them seperately? Can it track them at all?

No. I think they're working on tracking the VC games, but if you do a game search you'll notice that every VC game has a different entry for the VC release.
At the moment there are a number of us tracking Virtual Console and Wiiware games seperately to the website (well, a number of us collecting... DKII is the only one who does the actual sales tracking)
Indeed they are tracked by this site. Although I would like to see said data affixed to the games.
As for the whole, just adding them on to the original game idea, then surely we would have to do the same thing for ports. Maybe even for remakes. No, it makes sense to track each individual release sepereately
Just to elaborate on the 2 above (they pretty much said it all, but it might not be that easy to understand for everyone, not sure).
The total sold charts for the games do NOT contain the Virtual Console numbers. If you want to see an estimate of the virtual console numbers see here; http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=3688 (it's the most recent one).
Also, no sales from a remake are added to the sales of the original, it is added as an entirely different game.

I think it makes sense to add up the sales of ports.Direct ports with little or no upgrades.Like Bioshock 360 & Bioshock PS3,Resident Evil 4(all versions) or Zelda Twilighnt princess.I mean.I own(& beat) Zelda TP on the gamecube. That counts as part of its sales.I'm not saying they shouldn't count them seperately,I'm just saying there should be an option to see the total sales of all versions.Same applies for multiplat games.Doesn't apply for remakes, though.I mean,Resident evil & REmake,MGS1 & MGS:Twin Snakes(gamecube),Metroid & Metroid Zero mission,Klonoa PS1 & Klonoa wii, those games are so upgraded that they count as brand new titles.
Same goes for colectors editions & orange boxes.I don't count the zelda games in my zelda's collectors edition as having sold an extra 1 unit each.Anyway, all this is just my opinion but I guess if I want to know the total sales 4 a game,I can check its original sales, its VC sales(pls tell me how) & add em up myself without bothering the VGC staff. Thanks guys!

They should definately be tracked seperately, but it would be nice if there was some kind of combining tool for games.
So for instance you could do a search for say "call of duty" then the database would show you a list of them all.... then you click a tickbox on each of the games you want and let the website graph them for you.... 'twould be pretty awesome to see the difference between Call of Duty 4 sales (continuous behemoth sales for months) versus Halo3 (staggering first 2 weeks followed byt decline to steady sales)
scottie said: I think we just need to be able to use mathematical operators in the graphing section. ie entering in the first box
Call of Duty 4 - PS3 (+) Call of Duty 4 - X360
and in the second box
Call of Duty 5 - PS3 (+) Call of Duty 5 - X360 (+) Call of Duty 5 - Wii
and then it'd add the games sales for each week and graph them.
That would work.... but for those uber-multi-platformers, or for whole series it would be awkward... although as whole series won't be possible for some games without past data that might not wok anyway.
