GT are acting rather strange lately. Aren't they meant to hate Sony?
Maybe they realised that 90% of their members were Sony fanboys, and decided to change...
Anyway, if they were suddenly having a change of heart, I would say Uncharted 2 had a slightly better showing than God of War III. Only slightly.

Well shoot :/
More than half my collection remains unfinish with some barely (not no period) even started.
Playing through Lost Odyssey at the moment and by the time I finish that Uncharted 2 and L4D2 will most likely devour my soul. Then there is also the ulitimate Harbinger of my destruction, always lurking in the fringe of my vision waiting to strick.
The northen wind signal the coming of the blizzard... it chills my bone.

But....you just quoted that Forza 3 had to be in there. GoW3 is different from it's predecessors just like Forza 3 is, so you should be able to understand its inclusion if you want Forza 3 to get a mention.

i mean that there's not much new on the table in GOW3 if there is anything new actually besides graphics. Forza 3 brings a lot to the table if we're talking bout racing games on the consoles and is a huge step up in the series(new physics, ability to flip you car, cockpit view, tire deformation, user friendly gameplay, video editor etc.) GOW3 - not so much.

God of War 3 has new physics, didn't you see the organs spill out when he killed that centaur? The gameplay has also changed to be more about controlling a crowd of enemies instead of killing them off a few at a time.
And even without that, innovation doesn't necessitate quality. So if GoW3 doesn't change much but is still looking better than Forza 3 it makes sense for it to be there. They had a category for most innovative I believe, this is for best.

I'm not the biggest fan of God of War, but it does try to bring some new things to the game. For example, items such as the bow no longer use your magic meter, but use their own seperate item meter that automatically recharges. Not sure if there is still a magic system inplace, or if all "magic" are now items. They are trying to put a bigger emphasis on the different weapons, to encourage players to freely switch between them as the combat situation changes. They are adding bigger hordes, and the possibility of those hordes dog-piling the player. There are "captains" such as the centaur who will command the troops. Taking out the captain will supposedly make the lesser soldiers more disorganized.
Of course, I haven't played the game, so I can't really say how big of a game changer these features are. But it's pretty silly to dismiss God of War 3 as just God of War 2 with better graphics when I could easily say the same thing about Forza 3. I mean, you race cars in Forza 3, just like you do in Forza 2. Must mean Forza 3 brings nothing new to the table right?
I think it should have been either The Last Guardian or Metroid: Other M.
The Last Guardian because it is sure to have a story that touches the emotions more than any other game displayed at E3 this year and to be yet another Masterpiece from Ueda.
Metroid: Other M because it is a game that many people have been hoping for since the debut of the Gamecube in 2000, a true cinematic 3rd person action-adventure Metroid more in the mold of the classic Metroid but with current gen improvements to graphics and gameplay instead of being more like the fps Prime games. Also, judging from the trailer Samus will both be in and out of her battlesuit throughout the game.

Neither of those games were eligible because neither of those games were playable.
