Ahh damn, I thought you weren't pulling a double sarcasm. I am disappointed. Well, I'm just mad that High Voltage made a lot of bad games and then has the nerve to call out other developers. They should at least prove themselves first before being cocky.

Normally I agree, but lots of the claims over the years have been pretty obvious that they're false and well SOMEONE had to say it might as well be someone that has shown what the hardware can do.  And hey man everyone starts out somewhere, Blizzard started out making pretty poor games until they made a couple that took off, Guerilla Games had almost the EXACT same track record of making terrible games until they made Shellshock Nam, was then bought by Sony, and now makes Killzone.

I agree Maxwell, I don't see them as cocky. They called out the larger third parties for saying the Wii isn't capable of graphical feats that are built into the hardware. Even if the Conduit turns out to be trash, they've still proved themselves from a technical standpoint. The simple fact of the matter is that third parties never learned the Gamecube hardware so they continually make themselves look foolish with the Wii.

Rogue Squadron 2 was Gamecube launch title it featured bump mapping, shaders, pretty much every effect the Flipper was capable of and it had a short development cycle. For third parties to claim that the Wii can't do things that the weaker Gamecube could do is laughable. Lucasarts wanted Factor 5 to port Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 to Xbox and they couldn't get it up in running because Xbox was incapable of running game at the same quality.

The Gamecube and X-box were more or less equal, so it goes with out saying that the Wii is more poweful than the Xbox. The Gamecube had the superior CPU, faster RAM, and a GPU with better lighting and texturing capability. The X-box had nearly 50% more RAM, a GPU with more raw power, and hard drive to cache to. The Wii has nearly 50% more RAM than the X-box, a far superior CPU, faster RAM, and a GPU with a higher fillrate/better lighting/better texturing. The X-box has two advanatages over the Wii though. It has a hard drive to cache to and it can output video in HD.

Yeah, it's so obvious how these developers have not took the time to make a proper Wii game and they state things that just aren't true most likely in hopes that people just go along with what they say so they don't even have to try and put work into development.  My question is many of these developers had the proper tools and set ups for Gamecube yet their Wii games sometimes don't even use those already developed tools that are about 8 years old by now at least.

"Calling you out on your bullshit" from the famed creators of Dora The Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess, High Voltage Software!

Seriously for a moment, big budget studios and publishers have publicly stated how the Wii cannot do lighting/sharders/bump mapping, and then an unknown developer that always did licensed work and small budget titles comes out of no where and starts trying to make a name for themselves and calls out the big shots on their false claims.

i know this is late, but their claims are true, you can see in the screenshots/trailers. they pushed the wii to do things the others said it couldnt do, and you can see that

Totally agree, HVS has not done anything revolutionary nor do I think they'll be well known for The Conduit as a game but I like those guys for pushing hard, showing what the hardware can actually do, and the kind of work that has to go into a third party title.  I just love making the point that these guys made some pretty bad stuff in the past (all to make it by in this industry) and now they're one upping huge names in the industry that make false claims and just settle for making terrible games for the Wii, it's kinda like HVS said "Hey we made the crappy games so we could put food on the table we HAD to, you guys have all the ability to make good games happen for third party on Wii and y'all are choosing not to, but now you left the door wide open for a real effort and we're going to take it from you" even though The Conduit probably won't be ZOMG 10! SYSTEM SELLER!  It's just the point and the attitudes of HVS I really like and hell for the show they've given me for the past year I'm already entertained and I'll give them my 50 dollars.

Looks nice. I am glad that they are providing what others have for so long on "N" systems been so unwilling to provide.

Now if the complaining N-heads would only buy it.

What The Conduit is competing with is FPS's on Wii.. Call of Duty: World at War is the only one out there that can do anything to The Conduit's sales and that would be basically nothing.

They set out to make a solid FPS experience for Wii and I think they've proven that the Wii can do more than what other games in the genre have done. They have never said: Our game is better than KZ2 and Halo 3, just the definitive Wii FPS. That's exactly what it'll be. I really don't see where the hate towards them is coming from, there seems to be a lot of word-twisting going on..

This.  No fan in their right mind has said that The Conduit will be able to compete with the best of the best shooters out there.  The problem is that there are barely any good shooters on the Wii, so even a solid shooter will be a worthy addition to the library for anyone who is fan of FPS.

To be perfectly honest i think HVS are taking the route of all publicity is good publicity route with The Conduit because, to be honest, if they didn't create a bit of controversy or promote a reaction in people who would be paying any attention to them or this game?

I don't understand how an FPS on the Wii is automatically not able to compete with an FPS on one or both of the HD Twins.  If we're using graphics as a metric, then sure, I agree.  But gameplay is fair game.

Hmm. The Grinder actually looks cool. I think the Conduit looks pretty lame, but The Grinder has grabbed my attention. Graphics looking quite decent there.

I'm still trying to figure out if the grinder will hold a candle to L4D1 gameplay wise. If they leave the formula from L4D mostly intact and focus on replayability, even with relatively few levels (like L4D1) they'll have a winner. I hope just they realize how amazing versus mode is in L4D, and that they need something like that for the Grinder.

Well, with a game like The Grinder that has an emphasis on cooperative play, the ability to communicate with your teammates is vital. That doesn't mean each player needs a headset, but you need some way to inform your teammates of certain things. On the PC players without headsets can type out things to tell the team, but even in the incredibly unlikely event that everyone has a WiiSpeak, Nintendo's restrictive online chat policies mean that you can only chat with those on your friends list. This means there is going be a communication barrier for people playing The Grinder online. From a communication prespective, which really stems from Nintendo's attitude surrounding online play, the Wii is definately going to be lacking compared to its rivals.

The point is where the PS3, X360 and especially PC are at with regards to online functionality isn't anywhere near the that of the Wii. Nintendo simply didn't focus on online, and ended up with something resembling the PS2's online system. Many things now taken for granted were implemented on a game by game basis with no unified structure, providing a convoluted but functional online system.

Yes because those screenshots totally hold a candle to Uncharted 2, God of War 3 or KZ2 screenshots...

If someone says a Honda Civic is not underpowered would you bring up the quarter mile times of a Mustang?

Saying something is not underpowered is (essentially) saying that it has adequate power, not that it is very powerful.
