Forums - Nintendo - High Voltage - we're proving that the Wii isn't underpowered

"The motion controls of the Wii are perfect for FPS games, yet really good shooters on the Wii were few and far between. Also, the graphics we saw on the Wii were much less than what we knew was possible. Developers and publishers kept saying the Wii was underpowered. We’re showing that it was underestimated." - Rob Nicholls, Lead Game Designer at HVS

Looks like we can have quality games (with good graphics) on the Wii. What do you think guys? We have to blame the developers?

I guess next week will be the proof in pudding, right?

wii can do better than the conduit or grinder even. For all purposes and technical capabilities,it overpowers the old xbox(except in the case of shader unit that must be software based, and its easily so).Just remember, if the old cube did RE4 and Rogue squadron and Xbox had HL2 and Doom 3, theres a lot of room to improve.Apparently the new metroid will set a bar for realistic games on the wii.

I just want to see how much the wii can handle on graphics and what's the best. I hope the conduit proves that FPS is not just for the PC

"Calling you out on your bullshit" from the famed creators of Dora The Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess, High Voltage Software!

Seriously for a moment, big budget studios and publishers have publicly stated how the Wii cannot do lighting/sharders/bump mapping, and then an unknown developer that always did licensed work and small budget titles comes out of no where and starts trying to make a name for themselves and calls out the big shots on their false claims.

Thank you. Thank you so much. I have always thought High Voltage were hypocrites in that way, and you put it beautifully.

...because Conduit sales somehow have relation to if the Wii is underpowered or not?

no but actually playing The Conduit and seeing the visuals for it throughout the entire game do... kinda.

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

No because conduit will be the first full game these guys put out with the intended purpose of pushing Wii's limits. Will it be the best eva, no, but its a start. If the game sucks and has glitches then their talk is just talk and someone else *cough* metroid m *cough* will have to step up to bat.

Plus, I already paid for conduit so its proof to me that Wii can do better than what we've seen.

Or perhaps because we can stop viewing old images and videos on youtube and start looking at the game on a proper TV screen.

I don't think superchunks comment was anything to do with sales.

Really cheap GPU if it can't do those. Even the PC integrated onboard graphics have those.
