Forums - Sony - do u think the "PLAYSTATION 3" will have a better library than the "PS2"?

By the time i stop buying games for PS3, if my PS3 game collection is larger than of my PS2 game collection, then I would say yes for me.

But overall i dont think the PS3 library can out do the PS2 since it was the dominate console as WyldRage stated above.

good joke, no. ps3 will have similar library to first xbox(mostly shooters, action games, sports titles etc. generally hamburger-centric games). i would say that DS will be close though there's not many action games and racers.
psp+ds=ps2
ps3=xbox
xbox360=xbox+gc

Then what does the Wii =?

You'll notice that people who put the PS2 up on a pedestal are usually people in their teens/tweens. They missed the SNES era, which explains why they can't imagine a console with a better lineup then PS2 had. Keep in mind that the PS2 is nine years old; the PS3 only two and a half. The only place where PS2 dominates PS3 is RPG's. Fortunately it looks like PS3's RPG lineup is set to vasty improve.

No matter what your system of choice is this gen, we have already seen some great games. The best part is there are many more to come.

Agree with Carl.

wii? hmm so far looks like mix of core games from Dreamcast & Gamecube(also throw there some Saturn sweet luvin) and casual games from ps2.

To put things in perspective, I looked at my collection of PS2 games. I have 89 of them (damn! I thought I had more!!). Most of the games I would like a sequel for already have a sequel for them on the PS3. The thing that makes the PS3 library look less stellar is the lack of exclusivity that we saw in the PS2 days. I'm going to go on record and say that, if you include their downloadable games, the PS3 AND the 360 are seriously on track to give the PS2 a run for its money. Now, give me some SSX4, EA!!

i'm talking bout genres here not specific games and so far ps3 looks more like new xbox than xbox 360 itself. for me looks like wii will be similar to ps2 - maybe it won't have so many games but if we're talking bout variety of good games it will be pretty damn close to ps2.

That's true. But it's more of a testament to MS doing a great job securing these games as multiplat.

If you look at multiplat titles+PS3 exclusives then I'd say PS3 is easily beating PS2's first 2 years.

It seems like you're talking more about sales then actual gaming linup.
