Ouch @ the minimum Vista specs. My ~2 year old laptop is well below the minimum specs...Even my ~$2000 Dell XPS from last year doesn't have the recommended specs. Guess I have to stick to console.

From one of the Bioware programmers:

"Especially concerning CPU and system memory, you guys shouldn't be worrying as much about meeting the recommended system requirements for playing this game. I run the game fine on my 2 gig vista/2.13 GHz Core 2 Duo machine at home, and I'd be suprised if someone experienced significant performance gains when running Dragon Age on a quad core CPU, compared to an otherwise identical setup with a dual core CPU.

The video card will probably affect your experience more. Even though you'll get the full game experience on the minimum required graphics cards, having a recommended or better video card will make a difference in the visual quality of the game. That said, it very much depends on what kind of gamer you are and how much attention you pay to graphics. I personally enjoyed the game just as much on my laptop playthrough using the lowest visual quality setting."

So yeah, PC version is the way to go.

That's a direct quote of programmer Andreas Papathanasis from Bioware's Dragon Age forums.

I can't wait for this. I was kinda pissed that they delayed the PC release. Luckily my machine is pretty new so I am good on the specs.

Most anticipated game:  Dragon Age Origins (PC)

Well I could run it on recommended settings without problems, but I think I'll get it on a console instead.

I am leaning towards a PC version because of the mod maker ability.

Sure but the question is if there will be any quality mods at all. AFAIK the last Bioware games weren't known for their great mods.

"Windows XP Minimum Specifications
OS: Windows XP with SP3
CPU: Intel Core 2 (or equivalent) running at 1.4Ghz or greater
AMD X2 (or equivalent) running at 1.8Ghz or greater"

lol this is just a lie. It will run perfectly well on a single core CPU.

I don't understand why developers keep feeding the CPU myth.

I agree that it has been awhile. The last game from Bioware that had great mods was the original Neverwinter Nights. There were some great mods put out for NWN.

Nice, I actually don't really like this game too much but the best thing about PC gaming is the MODS. I'll grab this game when a couple great free MODS come out that change the gameplay to something that I like more ;)

Gotta love the indie and modding scene!
Speaking of that, Neotokyo is coming out tomorrow, HL2 mod that is very very well done.
Also the L4D mods are now supported over the network so get ready for 'Dead before Dawn' :)
