Forums - Gaming - Ghostbusters: PS3 is 3/4 resolution of Xbox 360 version

@ Passenger57

from IGN, if you think they're valid. if not ignore.
No mention of low res that I can see.

"For all the fanboys out there who want to beat their chests about which system got it right, there are some differences between the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of this game. The PS3 features an eight-minute, 4 GB install that apparently doesn't do much seeing as how it takes both games about 30 seconds to load after a death or load a mission from the main screen. Although the PS3 has exclusive videos about refurbishing Ecto-1 and the Blu-ray trailer, the graphics seem to be a touch dumbed down on Sony's system. When you proton stream burns a wall on the 360, there's a black gouge in the wall that features smoldering embers and bits of fire. On the PS3, you get the fire and black gouge, but the little embers embedded in the cut don't make it. Similarly, when you attack Stay Puft on Microsoft's console, you're making dramatic changes to his puffy exterior. On the PS3, these changes aren't as severe -- it's almost like a bruise rather than a fiery cut. Still, I'll save you the suspense and tell you both versions are getting the same score for graphics because the overall package is solid on each platform. "

Im still getting the PS3 version so there! I said this in the other thread before twesterm rudely closed it. Tim is very upset with the other person who's name starts with T.

Tease.

It's the textures that were really dropped down significantly in the PS3 version. From far away, it's probably not something the casual viewer would notice, but on closer inspection...

As for the display resolution, it's worse than GTAIV, which already bordered on the edge of being a bit too blurry for my tastes when upscaled.

For me personally, it's somewhat irrelevant as the game is priced at $29.99 on Steam. The huge price discrepancy can only be partially explained by the removal of online multi-player, but that is still a rather large price difference, especially if you have no interest in online play.

Oh yes, and free SecuRom DRM comes with the game as a bonus.

OMG! it's clear that no one could possibly have fun with the game on ps3 now...

honestly this surprises me, and with arstechnica weighting in on the issue there must be something too it

I don't understand IGN's reasoning for giving them both the same score for graphics if those screenshots are accurate.  A Blu-Ray trailer does not change the fact that the Xbox 360 version looks better than the PS3 version.

Luckily it's on Steam now.  ^^

Here is a video of both versions running side by side. It's sad but seems Lens of Truth is right. View in HD to see the big difference in resolutions.

Yeah, I was glad to see that. They did a good job of making sure it was distributed on pretty much every format.

And I've yet to have DRM related problems with anything I've bought on Steam to date, making it a pretty obvious purchase when I'm ready to play it.

Been hearing a LOT of complaints about the retail PC version of the game though; everything from the intaller doesn't work to the typical "this game uses SecuRom so I rate it one star!"
