nice try

try harder next time as most job cuts at SONY aren't even from the Games Division

rofl lol lol rofl

I'm talking about the company in general, not just the game division. Settle down hoss.

Had to change my sig to get some moderator to quit bitching about it......

SONY should drop the price IF they can lower the cost enough. They should be making a profit on console sales, but not much. They need to drive more game sales and they can only do that if they can move more PS3s out the door. It's not good enough that sales are doing good despite being the most expensive up front cost of the other consoles and it being a recession. The longer it stays in 3rd place (and its probably already too late to ever catch up to the X360) the more likely they will NEVER recoup this gen.

A warrior keeps death on the mind from the moment of their first breath to the moment of their last.

Can only agree with regards to price cut. Sony have every reason to continue at the current price and very little reason to cut. At some point this will change probably leading into Xmas but this will depend on the economic climate, sales and currency.

If I was a PS3 fanboy I would be happy with my lot right now. I might not be happy that I am in this position but that does not alter the here and now and in the here and now the PS3 is performing better than you could expect holding it sales well.

A PS3 slim bundled with GT5 and a price cut introduced this christmas will blow me away...

How does my comment make no sense? i previously posted that Sony losing a billion dollars was not making there stockholders happy....thus I'm sure there not happy with how the PS3 is selling.

@nabraham

yeah & the point of the thread is to NOT drop price (as PS3 is doing good in this recession, no point in ignoring it) which means less profit so shareholders = more unhappy

I suspect many shareholders are unhappy at the moment with many businesses missing targets. Sony is no different in that respect. I would imagine a Sony shareholder would be glad to see the PS3 not hitting the floor if they expected anything more they may have been a tad optimistic in the current climate.

I'm with the OP... I've never known what's so expensive about a $400 elite system such as the PS3 with all the value it offers. I gladly paid $300 for a PS2 back in dec 2001 and I thought it was worth every penny. 6 years later I paid $400 for a PS3 and I think it's worth every penny. And I ask myself what's so expensive about $400 in dec 2007 versus $300 in dec 2001? Inflation adjustments would certainly prove $300 back in 2001 were worth quite more than $400 today, and I'm getting a lot of value with my PS3 versus the current direct competition in the market. I think $400 is a steal.
