Forums - General - Favourite animated movie.

After having just watched Up for a second time, it got me thinking. There have been so many damn good animated movies over the past three decades or so, from Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro (1979) to Up (2009).

After thinking briefly upon it, and making some difficult cuts, I came to the conclusion that I could not decide between these three:

WALL-E (2008)

  • Directed by Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo)

The Iron Giant (1999):

  • Directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouiile)

Grave of the Fireflies (1988)

  • Directed by Isao Takahata (Pom Poko, My Neighbours the Yamadas)

There are quite a few that I thought difficult to cut from these, but I thought three was already too many.

What is your favourite animated movie?

It's a tie between Dumbo and The Incredibles.

Oh, I love The Incredibles. Right behind WALL-E for my favourite Pixar movie.

Dumbo, however, I was never much a fan of. I liked it, but it was always shadowed by other Disney movies for me.

Great choices. I too really like Animated films. I would suggest the following as being amoung the best too.

Wings of Honneamaise, Toy Story, Mellenium Actress, Spirted Away, Princess Monoke, really anything Pixar...except Cars.

Outside of Wings of Honneamaise, because I havent seen it, I agree with everything you say (including cars). The bolded ones I had a hard time cutting along with Lupin III, Whisper of the Heart, Howlès Moving Castle, The Lion King, and The Incredibles.

I love Wall-E! I think it will be at the top of my list for a long time.
