Forums - Sony - Can Playstation Home be a system seller?

Many people seem to still have a grudge with Playstation Home because of what was offered when it was first released, there really wasn't much to do and was boring, but now it seems as though Playstation Home has turned a complete 360, it's completely different from what it use to be and it's actually quite enjoyable now. The list of things you can do is play Poker, a mini racing game, a mini shooting game, a flying game, pool, darts, chess, bowling, I think theres golf, watch several different videos and it even has it's own browser to go on the internet. Also theres many different game rooms, the list goes on I'm leaving out several other things.

Anyway my point is once Home is perfected it can be quite appealing to a lot of people, already it's impressive and it's only going to get better. Could Home be a system seller for the PS4? since by the time the PS4 is released Home will be a very interesting place.

There are currently 6.5 million users on Home, and the average time in Home is 40 minutes.

So can Playstation Home be a system seller?

Wouldn't a complete 360 point it back in the same direction? :)

I don't see it as being a system seller. I just don't think there is a demand from gamers for a virtual world like Home.

"but now it seems as though Playstation Home has turned a complete 360"

I completely agree.  It has done a complete 360 and remains just as pointless as ever.

I don't think Home will ever be a system seller.

More importantly: "Will we ever see a final version of Home or will it stay a beta forever?"

There are no system sellers anymore: that's just not how the market works in this day and age. There is no reason to believe that Home will be any different.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

In a word? No
in depth reply: Hell no, lulz.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Jason Kidd once said he would turn his team around 360 degrees you know because yeah you know.

But no I don't feel like Home can be a system seller. I would think anybody who would be willing to spend $400 to play in an online chat-room would just go visit an online chat-room. Drew Rosenhaus has a twitter.

It depends, if it finally got finished and officially released and people looking to get a game console see Home as the tipping point in the PS3s favor over the 360. Then yes I say it can be. But until people take it seriously, and that includes Sony, it will never be more than a extra program on the PS3.

I don't see anyone to spend $400 or $300 on a console in order to play Home only...

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

I said ROFFLE!

And no, Home is not, and never will be, a system seller.
