Forums - Nintendo - What do you think about nintendo making games easiers to casual audience?

Super Mario Bros isn't challenging. I could beat it when I was 5. Anyways, I really don't care about the skip option. I won't be using it so it doesn't affect me. If Nintendo can bring more users into gaming while still providing games that I enjoy, then I'm all for it. I'm not an elitist hardcore snob who things games shouldn't be played by anyone but other elitist hardcore snobs.

Couldn't have said it better.

The only thing I'd use it for is in a game like Zelda, after I'd already beaten the game, so I could just watch the whole thing like a movie

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I think it's really terrible, Marios Bros. was always a challeging game and now they announce that the new mario wii players can skip puzzles if they can't solve them... I mean, everyone here had to play this for the first time and spend days through trying to pass challeging levels, Why those casual gamers can't have this experience, they'll feel better saying "It was hard, But I made it!!" or "ohh, let's just skip this part"? And If they announce something like this to the new Zelda? Just making a game that is knowed by it difficult easy. And they can't use the sales excuse, it's mario bros., this will sell huge amounts with or whitout this shit.

You mean they can skip parts of the game now!!!!  It's awful that they would allow something like "warping" in a Mario game. >.>  I mean it's not like you can skip through parts of the original Mario or anything... now that's a true hardcore game.  I'm so glad you can't skip through difficult parts of say Mario 3, or people would just warp straight to the end and beat the game.  I wish these new casuals could have experiences like those, where you can't skip anything that you might consider difficult...

I hope you can see how ridiculous that all is.

Mario has been hard since when? You could skip almost every single level in Super Mario World by just getting the ever present cape. Very few Nintendo series have ever been about difiiculty. For the most part they are just about having fun while playing. To that end, I fail to see how an auto-play option hurts anything. I am interested in it just to see how the game designers intended the player to beat various parts vs how I chose to do it. Don't like it? Then don't use it. Youtube offers identical functionality with more hassle.

Agree with Nordlead and thekitchensink, when has SMB been hard?

SMB2 JP was freaking hard :(

...At least to me.

EDIT: Either way, some of you guys have a very good point. I don't care about this feature, it could just mean NSMB Wii can be made harder for us. :)

I think the problem that everyone has with it is that you won't be able to resist using it. I won't... Die 2 to 3 times in one spot and that temptation will start being unbearable.

The other problem, I already have trouble reviewers are actually playing the games... now they can just skip right through.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I give NSMB Wii a 1/10. You don't do anything in this one! It's the easiest game I've ever "played", shame on you Nintendo!

ok, so I forgot about SMB2 JP. The game kicks my ass, but then again 1 hard game out of a whole series means it is only an exception to the rule

Most Mario games are easy enough that anyone can beat, but they have levels in them that are hard enough for seasoned players to have a challenge. Yes, I could beat Super Mario Bros at 5, but I always took the shortest path. I can beat every level in every world now, but if I'm going to speed run, I just skip everything like I did when I was young.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Who says they will make games easier?

eh?  this makes ALL games easier... thats the point.

If you use it. Just like "rewind" in Forza, play by parts in Guitar Hero, etc etc tec

I assume rewind in Forza is just what Grid did. This makes it slightly easier, but you do not get unlimited rewinds, Grid can still be really hard even with a few rewinds. This simply allows you to skip anything challenging.

Or watch how it does and try it again after. Or not even use it (did I mention this?)!!

I accept yor opinion, but I don't agree with Grid being hard, not even challenging, even without rewinds.

Le Mans circuits, it is that final section that really gets me, and then the circuits in Milan, and Washington to a lesser extent, but it is mostly easy. In Grid there is a definitely difficulty level, and appart from really Le Mans, it is easy on normal, and a little tricky on serious, but if you put it on Ninja difficultly, or even savage, it would be hard without rewinds

The best part of this will be after Microsoft and Sony follow suit, then their fans will tell us how amazing it will be.
