as someone who lives in canada, that what you just said, sounds insane to me.

sitting at a bar with a bunch of guys with exposed firearms?

that doesnt sound that safe to me man.  drinking and guns?  prolly a bad idea.

You should come to New Hampshire sometime where the crime rate is a heck of a lot lower than most of Canada (and all 49 other US states).  You can see how freedom works.  If you are ever in the NH area, let me know.

Guns and drinking mix fine.  People which do those things together tend to be responsible.  I personally don't mix the two, not because it is against the laws, but because I'm not really into guns.

So you think the situation in other european countries would be any different IF a very, very small percentage of games would be banned?
Of course not.
The majority of people in all european countries still aren't gamers.
The majority of gamers are not interested in extremely violent games.
The majority of gamers who play extremely violent games will not doing anything more than sign a petition.
So as long as games with average violent actions aren't banned you will not see or hear mentionable protest. Nowhere.

I disagree. There are millions of gamers affected in Germany. The least they could do is make some noise. I'm sure there would be protests in the US or even here in the Netherlands when the government is banning violent games.

Why can't people stop thinking in countries?

Really there have been enough protests in Germany. So many websites have protested against it, there have been petitions to the Bundestag, TV shows, famous politicians saying such a law would be dumb, responsible ploticians participated in live-chats on videogaming sites... isn't that enough?

If the Nazis are concerned about the effects that stimulated violence will have on German youths, than the definition of Nazi sure has changed since 1945.

Thats so sad, they still have Nintendo.

Why is the carrying of guns in a conversation about the banning of violent games?... there is no common ground there...

I would ban guns, particularly hand guns, except for sports clubs under secure and safe conditions.

Banning "violent" video games is not going to achieve anything.

Outlawing overtly sick or crude games is already dealt with by censorship and ratings... why does that need to change?

Typical knee jerk, European, liberal, interventionist bullshit.

Judging by the contradiction in that statement, I'm assuming that it was also a typical knee-jerk response.

That fucking sucks. If anything like tht happened in the UK id be so fucking pissed.

You haven't got much to worry about, as it would never happen (or not, at least, for a very long time). Judging from VGChartz numbers and general knowledge, video games are much more important to the UK economy than Germany's (we sell more, and we have a smaller population, I'm also guessing that a lot more video games are actually made in the UK Vs Germany), which the Government would have to consider.

Also, and much more importantly, recent trends in censorship seem to be going the other way. The introduction of the 12A rating a few years back (for those outside of the UK 12A means 12 advisory, films that used to be 12 and older only can now be viewed by anyone as long as they're accompanied by a legal adult (18 years of age)) shows this.

Anecdotally, I seem to have noticed that 15s can get away with a lot more nudity now than they could before, and 12(A)s can get away with a lot more violence.

how can you dare insulting a whole country.

whether it was fun / attempt of sarcasm or not, this is extremely uneducated, stupid bs talk.

if it was for me, i would give you a permanent ban.

it's people like you who keep all the wounds open.

and why the hell doesn't anybody interfere with this ? come on !

How can 720p be considered HD when it looks like ugly snow grains on my 22'' screen?

^Because it's MrBubbles, that's what he does: offends people.

And so what, what does it matter if someone's offended, nothing more comes of it.

This guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAGJpISVERg sums it up pretty well.
