Forums - Gaming - Resident Evil- Will it return to its original form?

I'm going back and forth between RE5 and the REmake on the GC, and my bro was telling me how he'd wish it would return to the fixed camera angles and limited weaponry, with moderate puzzle solving.

I doubt that it will return to such a nature, but other series have received the "back to my roots" treatment.

I think the new RE PSP while incooparate elements from both styles

Since the Resident Evil movies (hell, since Resident Evil 2), the series has become less survival horror and more action. It probably won't ever go back. I wish it would get the Silent Hill Wii treatment, and give us a pure horror experience from a 3D perspective. Still, by the end of the 1st game, after we found out that the zombies were just victims of a virus outbreak, I wasn't too afraid anymore, anyway.

yea I kno...RE killed the vibe with the Virus thing

I want them to go back to the way RE4 was handled. It incorporated the new gameplay style which I loved but It kept the tense and creepy atmosphere that we loved in the past games. RE5 didnt do much to expand on the gameplay and it got rid of the atmosphere because of the co-op system.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

The one thing that future Resident Evil games need: Pacing! I know they had to ramp up the action to keep two players interested for RE5, but all action all the time is no good for this type of game. A good mix of horror, simple puzzles, storyline revelations, and build up would go a long way to making the next game more memorable (and I do like RE 5) AND fun!

Will it go back to the original style: No.

Will it stay like it is: Likely not, since Takeuchi said that 5 was the last chapter in the 'first act' of Resident Evil. I have a feeling the PSP game will kick off the second.

i personally miss the old RE gameplay , they should have named RE4 and RE5 something else.
i would love if they release a "Outbreak" style gameplay , i loved that game and the online was awesome idea.
