Excuse didn't work. It's almost a Sony Defence Force-esque arguement. You know, the GT Family > than Wii game does sound kinda like the SDF standard 2007 arguement: PS FAMILY outsells one of Nintendo's consoles (but you have to leave out either the DSi or Wii, depending on which one could make the arguement work that month). And SDF had to give that up because that doesn't even happen at this point. 

THIS (fixed): MKWii and MKDS vs. GT: P and GT5 is one way to be fair.

The other is GT5 Prologue + GT5 vs MK Wii. Or GT5 Prologue + GT5 + GT Portable > MKDS + MKWii. Either of those could also be considered fair.

But it's not fair to try and force a very slight possibility of an outcome in GT's favor since it's obvious there's no chance GT PS3 will ever come close to MK Wii. And even if we did say it your way it would still never happen.

My thought of a more realistic outcome: MKDS + MKWii = 2X (GT5 Prologue + GT5 + GT Portable).

and i DO think that's possible. Anyone agree?

Frankly, I think a more fair comparison would be

GT:Portable + GT5 > MKWii *0.5 ----- Yes or no?

MKWii should be at a good 21M by the end of 2009. It's very realistic to believe it will sell 9M more in its life. Anywhere between 27M and 35M seems like a good LT guesstimate to me.

Personally, I have no clue about how big GT:Portable will be, so I'll just have to go with Montana's number for that (4-6M).

GT5 is more of a 8-10M seller. So all in all, it's looking like MKWii should = GT5 + GT5 + GT:Portable + GT:Portable.

Edit: Hah, Radio Robert said roughly the same thing as me. As great minds think alikes, mentally ill people might think alike too. I'll let Robert decide which group he puts us in :P.

Fun Fact: Mario Kart Wii could end up selling more than all the 13 Mario games on GC sold in total.

Is it so hard to believe? It's at 16m right now and still selling over 100k a week over a year after release in the slowest period of the year.

In other words, MKWii will sell over 7 million copies in 2009 alone. Sure, it'll slow down in the years after, but still, expect about 4-5 million copies per year from 2010 onwards. That means that in 2011 MKWii will reach its 30 million mark.

30 million is practically a given. The real question is: can it reach 40 million?

Honestly, I doubt it.  As someone has already said, MK: Wii will be around 20mil by the end of the year, and will continue to have legs through the gen unless they're canibalized by MK: Wii 2. 

Can I laugh when this doesn't happen? Pretty please? Seriously if you are going to consider GT: Portable then you have to consider Mario Kart DS. Simple as that.
