XII, VIII, X-2. XI is MMO

XII is the story of a side kick, you are with the people who are making the change (kind of refreshing actually) however, for the most part you are being taken along for the ride which put off a lot of people. I really liked it better than 8 and since I loved FF:Tactics the return to Ivalice was ... awesome :)

VIII has a pretty good story but unless you have a PSP I wouldn't recommend it 'cause the graphics are .. blocky and ugly on my big screen HDTV. The Pre-rendered CGI vids are pretty cool and it has one of the best told love stories in the FF universe.

X-2 I own but have never played (a huge backlog I need to go through first). I have heard that the story kind of takes a back seat in this but the refinements to FF:x are pretty good and the battle system is unique (Changing clothes for abilities' change I believe) (I may be wrong).

I'd disagree with both points, but character development and gameplay in VIII are both superb, as is its graphic style.

And you're correct about FFX-2. It has a pretty neat battle system and some of the best CGI conceived by man. Story isn't too good... but in that game... you won't really care, trust me.

@Xen,

I am curious, which love story would you consider to be best told in the FF universe?

FF8 by far!

FF VIII
and if you still have some money XII

u should get Final Fantasy X. Its the best with perfect storyline and keeps u entertained throughout the game. if u already played it, get FFXII then.

all of them.

FFXII and FFVIII

FFXII: well.. has it's moments. There's a bit too much auto-pilot farming for my liking.

FFXI: .. Je le detéste

FFVIII: I couldn't finish it. I WILL do it this summer.. combat system sucked imo..

FFX-2: Enjoyable gameplay. This game always makes me in a good mood, although the story is 'so so'.

FF8 is the choice.

FFX-2 and FF12 are tied but way behind. FFX-2 continues the story of Yuna and if you disliked the ending to FFX, you may find the "happy" ending in this one more favourable. But if you liked the ending in FFX, don't play this game. FF12 is not a bad game, but the game fails at what makes the FF series great (really great): having memorable characters that you really care about.

The only interesting character is Balthier but you don't really care about the fate of him or any other character. Battle system is flawed, but play for longer than 2 hours before making the final call (I still disliked it, but it was way better than my initial impression).

FFXI is online.

Basically, walk into FF8 with no expectations and you'll walk out of it very satisfied. It's the only FF that I've managed to clock the full 99:99:99 time for, that's partly because I was young back then and lacked the mad skills, but mostly because triple triad is an addictive game and collecting the ultimate weapons for each character was also fun (and involved triple triad for some).
