Forums - Gaming - MGS4 & FFXIII rumours continue!

Wasn't Assassin's Creed announced PS3 Exlusive at E3 last year?

No, it was never exclusive.

Anyway, neither FFXIII or mgs4 are coming to the 360, fanboys can dream and rumours can spread but thats all they will ever be: dreams and rumours. Kojima has essentially stated that it is their mission to "transfuse life" into "sony's war machine, the ps3"[those are direct quotes from the mgs4 page, look them up yourself]

and square has absolutely no interest in releasing many titles on a console that took 2 years to break 500k in japan. FF lives and breathes in the japanese market, the 360 is practically nonexistent there and the wii couldn't handle the game, that leaves one option: ps3. Furthermore they're not going to step on the toes of their third largest shareholder: Sony. Even if they do lose money (which they wont), they have more then enough wii/psp/DS games in the works and DS/psp final fantasy's are proven cash cows. Heck, for all we know the white engine still isn't ready for the 360 as the latest multiplatform news regarded an MMO, it could very well be pc compatibility.

But of course, fanboys will always whine and when the games finally do come out we'll probably here some of the same people posting about how FF/MGS sucks anyway.

Agree, but the CW isn't ending 2010. More like 2012-13. 2010 is too early. It's not lastinh 3-4 years >_>

You mis-understand what I was saying, I know the current gen will still be going beyond 2010 but the result will be a formailty by that time. All of the big guns will have hit. So if the PS3/360 are still fighting at that time, it will be a meaningless distant 2nd battle where the result bears little meaning.

The test for the PS3 comes when FFXIII hits Japan. Japan's reception of the game will be critical to how they play and react towards the PS3, imo. Versus XIII will gain it's install base for XIII, it will never move consoles on it's own and therefore bears no influence on the actual battle at all.

Again though, all this does is futher prove that Sony needs a major game for each region as a 1st party. They have GT for Europe, now they need something for US and Japan. Killzone 2 succeeding is VERY important to Sony, more important then any other game. They need this game to be a hit in the US, they need to whore it out to everyone, ensure that the entire world knows how big this game will be. It's the marketing hype that is selling the PSP in Japan at the moment and it will be the market hype that will sell Killzone 2. Deliver a great game, market and the PS3 will get a big boost in sales and have a stable 1st party game.

That is the direction Sony needs to go. 3rd parties is not the way, dead money and not a long term winner.

These games arent going on the 360 unless they flop, sony probably signed a contract, they are not idiots.

@leo-j are your proposing a bet? I think this could make for a good predictions thread. Perhaps the only one the Sony boosters might actually win this year hands down. That means there would be a sporting chance. Would any of the Sony boosters care to place a prediction on the outcome?

The rumors will never die.

The only fathomable reason I could see this ever happening was if MGS or FF sold so terribly that it couldn't cover it's own budget.

Then with extra persuasion from MS, the game would be ported.

But that is highly unlikely.

yes true, in japan they have very little interest in Japan, and that is most likely the reason holding them back, but to save never is rather hard to believe. Kojima cannot determine where this goes, the publisher will, and if MS gives them a nice big gift, you never know. Its the same with SE, it wouldnt be  expensive to port the game, and FF has always sold well in America, not quite Japan sales (usually little more then 1/3, to 3/4 total Japan sales) it could very much contribute. Also again a nice big gift from MS could very well do it.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Or with extra persuasion from MS they release the port no matter how it sold on the PS3. SE in particular have shown themselves to be money hungry.

@Leo. I doubt either SE or Konami was dumb enough to limit themselves by signing an exclusivity contract.

Remember that Sony owns 10 percent of Square-enix and that they have a voice inside the company...

Anyway kinda stupid rumours, and we all know that most of the Xbox 360 owners aren't aren't J-rpg gamers....

For MGS4, it is possible (6 months demayed)
For FFXIII, I just hope it is false.

I dont know how fan, that doesn't own an Xbox360/PS3, will react to this announcement...

I think if the PS3 is no so expensive when FFXIII is released, FFXIII on Xbox360 will be a non-event.

Time to Work !

I don't see FFXIII going cross platform, though Square is suppossed to be developing it with a multi-platform engine I've heard. They've also recently expressed dissapointment in Nintendo for not going along with a cross-platform MMO thing, so I don't know if that means one of the FFXIII's were planned to be on all three consoles?
