I understand your point, but all of the anime I have seen just annoys me.

I hate the overly emotional reactions, like crying into thier own mouths, and i hate the way thier eyes are bigger than thier heads, and i hate thier blue hair....

I could go on and on, but most of the shit just isnt funny or cute, its fucking stupid.

To be honest, the only movie i like that i would consider anime is spirited away, because it's devoid of stupidly over emotional idiocy.

That's far from universal, that's just BAD anime. There's plenty of western-made entertainment plagued with crappy overacting as well, but you wouldn't generalize an entire countries entertainment output based on a handfull of series which are derided by most anyway. 95% of anime isn't worth stealing but thats the same with any form of media, movies, Tv, books and videogames, the vast majority is and always has been pure crap. If you don't like the art style then I guess that's just personal preference, but 'overly emotional reactions' are loathed and despised by the anime community as well. I can't stand most anime either but I still consider myself a fan, because given its range and diversity if you do a little more digging and give it a fair chance there's bound to be something to your liking.

So, by your own admission, if 95% of it is crap, than it's safe to assume that I would have to dig through 100 hours of anime to find 5 hours of it worth watching?

That's something I'm not willing to do. :(

I can't tell if your being sarcastic or not...either way I mean use the same system i'm sure you use for selecting works from other areas of entertainment, namely reviews and ratings. I decade ago I would have sympathised but now you have the internet, a simple Google search will throw up many good results.

I'm a big fan of psychological and horror movies, if anybody can reccomend me some of the 5% "good" anime from one of those genres, i would be happy to check it out. :)

You have similar tastes to mine. 'Monster' and 'Gantz' are good places to start. Also possibly 'Serial experiments Lain', but that may not be your cup of tea.

It doesnt get more psychological than death note.
