Not surprised. Capcoms framework 1.5 kicked it to the curb.

Mm, I see. Now, the situation would be different if Rising was a PS3 exclusive, right? |
Wrong. If Kojima was the big part of it, which he's not, then the situation would be different.

Not true many companies update their graphics engines for example Epic Games used Unreal Engine 3 on both Gear of War and Gears of War 2 but the sequel uses Unreal Engine 3 2.0 and Capcom made Lost Planet using their MT Framework engine but Lost Planet 2 is using MT Framework 2.0 Resident Evil 5 used MT Framework 1.5. So as you can see companies usually use an engine over again many times but make substantial update to the engine to help make the resolutions, textures, physics, bump mapping and so forth come out nicer than before. Making a new enginge takes lots of money and many companies would rather use an already made engine to help cut back on cost and development time.
How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...
Xbox 360 wants to Kinect & PS3 wants to Move! Why are both systems having such relationship problems? The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

But of course! If it was, it would put a hole in Sony's "only possible on the PS3" argument.
And I was wondering how they'd use the MGS4 engine on 360 since it was heavily optimized for PS3... This explains it all. And this ought to be VERY expensive if they're actually going for a good game... And if the engine really is brand new and not an improved version of some other multiplatform engine (does Konami even have a proper multiplatform engine for this gen, apart from PES=football?).

MGS4 will be without a doubt, hands down the better game. I can gaurentee that. |
Cause it was exclusive to the PS3?

I agree. If Kojima was the big part of it, I wouldn't have the 1% glimmer of hope that it might just be playable. :P
In all seriousness, though, this isn't a shock at all. Like a lot of people have said, they never reuse the engines anyway, and this one being multiplat only gives them yet another reason to continue that trend.
And for the people asking why this is in the MS forum, use your heads. He wanted to make sure as many Xbox owners as possible saw it so he could divine some satisfaction out of the flame war he started, not to mention rake in those ever-important VG$.
