Forums - Nintendo - My Wii Fit Challenge

I have already stated in a thread before how I think Wii Fit is an amazing game and deserves the title of one of the best ever. Needless to say some of you disagreed and some even agreed.

But now I'm going to take it to another level, I'm going to prove that Wii Fit works. Here's my story...

After a year off to college, eating junk food, energy drinks and beer I could notice that my once fit self and fallen a little to the round side, but I wasen't worried, I was on my way home for the summer, where fresh air, soccer, lacrosse and mom's good old fashion home cooking awaited. A few weeks pass and I jumped on the old bathroom scale and to my horror I had actually gained weight! Now I wasent very happy and realised something had to be done to regain my once healthy body. I eliminated all eating after 9PM, started working again and eating healthier but yet the results were minimal, (-2 pounds in two weeks). This past Christmas my mom recieved Wii Fit as a gift and one evening I decided to see what all the fuss was about. Now as a typicial hard headed 20 year old I dismissed the Yoga training as 'not for me' and hopped straight into the strenght training, then the aerobics and after about 30min of working out with the game I weighed myself (using the balance board) and had lost 0.9 pounds... pretty impressive I said, so I decided to make it into a routine, every day for about 45 min I would jog, do jackknives and yes even the Yoga and in 2 weeks I had lost 3.7 pounds! just 1.3 pounds short of my 2 week goal of 5 pounds. Now I started thinking theirs something to this Wii Fit deal, its a game (which I like) and it makes excerising addicitve, every day I cant wait to see my body test results and try to knock off another pound or so.

Now I'v been doing Wii Fit workouts for 3 weeks straight (only missed one day where I hurt my foot jogging in real life) and from my starting weight Iv lost 7.8 pounds! Now of course I cant give Wii Fit all the credit, I dont eat ANY food after 9PM, I have a pretty active job, I play some team sports (dident make the soccer team :( ) and I eat (mostly) healthy foods. But I can thank Nintendo and Wii Fit for turning excersising into a daily activity for me and helping me get back into the shape and form I once was.

I will be updating this thread with my results of Wii Fit over the summer, and maybe hopefully help convince others of the merits of this great game and tool.

Woo, we should turn this into a "My Wii Exercise Challenge" thread, and all update it. I just started the 30 day challenge with EA Sports Active.

I haven't lost any significant weight yet as I only got back into a healthy lifestyle like 3 days ago I'm using Wii Fit for weighing myself, and I lost 10lb with it last fall before I went back to eating junk food. I weigh 208lb now, and I'm aiming to lose 28lb. I could stand to lose up to 38lb, but losing 28 will be tough enough.

My plan is to stick to the 30 day challenge on medium intensity, and to watch my calorie intake. I also play some tennis on rare occasion with my brother, and may start playing volleyball with him. I also go for walks, so EA Sports Active will probably be the majority of my real exercising. Once the 30 day challenge is complete, I plan on restarting it on high intensity and then repeat until I've lost all the weight I need to.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Great idea, we should all do that

Geez, how tall are you nordlead? I'm 6'2 and my ideal weight is around 210 lbs. Although I'd like to return to about 200-205 lbs.  I am currently about 217 lbs (down from 245 lbs about 2 and half months ago).  I was obviously drinking and eating way too much (and not exercising).  Just checked your profile... 5'10 should probably be around 180-190.

I'm just shy of 5'11, and if you use BMI my ideal weight is 150 something. 180 is right on the edge of the BMI normal range, but I'm big, so 150 would make me look famished. I used to be in near perfect shape at 175 (not ripped, but I lifted weights a ton so in really good shape), so I'd be happy to be back there.

If you have a lot of muscle. If not, your probably fat at 6'2 /210 or 5'10 / 190.

Actually, now that i think about it, youd have to have a LOT of muscle to not be fat at 210.

^I have buns of steel. Also, my legs have never lost their muscle mass from my many years of soccer.  Also, calling 6'2 at 210 lbs fat seems a little harsh.  It may be slightly overweight but the most ideal weight for 6'2 would probably be around 185-195.  If you are 6'2 and 175-180 lbs or so you look like a twig.

I don't do much Wii Fit at this point. I'm biking about 65km a week, so I just do some yoga to keep my spine straight and my muscles stretched, along with some ab exercises when I can muster the enthusiasm.

I might look into picking up Sports Active when winter comes around again and my bike goes into hibernation. I'm curious to see if Wii Fit Plus has more to offer than routines (most wanted feature) and new minigames.

after yesterday;s workout I'm (-1.3 pounds) unusually high but hey Ill take it

I lost 1 lb from yesterday also. Now I just need to keep eating right. I have ran/jogged/walked 6 miles each day now since Monday (trying to go rest of month on that pace, next week I'll start doing sit-ups and push-ups along with the 6 miles)
