I thought he meant that the review, not the score, was better than IGN's.

I think that those two things are really important to the game so that's probably why I wasn't sure about the scores. I need to go back and read the infamous review to see what they marked off. |
The problem with sites like IGN and Eurogamer, is that all the reviews aren't by one person, creating an understandable sense of inconsistancy.

The review itself.
EuroGamer just have boners for "7"

Repetitiveness, enemy spamming, not enough variation in powers... gets boring mid way through.
Reading both reviews.... it sounds like Infamous looks better and has a better story... but Prototype is more.... fun.

yeah. that's how it is for this site as well. Prince of Persia and Prince of Persia: Epilogue were done by 2 different contributors but they were done by 2 different people as well. @Kasz, thank you. I was feeling a little lazy. |
They also had the same problem I've always feared about Infamous.
"After an interesting start, however, inFamous loses its way considerably in the middle third, and certain things begin to dawn on you. If you rub away the labels, for instance, most of the abilities Cole can deploy in attack are just analogues for traditional third-person weaponry. The default zap attack is a rifle round, the heavier one is a rocket launcher, the grenade is a grenade, and the precision shot is a sniper scope with slow-motion."
Reading both reviews it sounds like Infamous is the better put together game.... but prototype is more fun. (According to Eurogamer.)
Just based by the reviews it sounds like if anything Infamous is the one that should be ranked lower by them. But hey with a 10 point rating system that's really a 6 point rating system you do what you can.

How did inFamous get into this thread? There shouldn't be an inFamous vs. Prototype discussion, as Prototype is a multiplat. The only thing than can happen is either PS3 owners getting 2 great games, or only 1.

You'd think.

I brought it up because it was mentioned in the peice of the article that was posted in this thread. I was wondering why they gave them the same score. So technically, it's still partially on topic because it was referring back to the OP. x.o |
Oh, I wasn't meaning to personally call you out or something, lol, sorry.

So the real score is around 5-6 considering how EG loves sandbox games.

No, the real score is a 7, because it says a 7, and for EG 7 is a great score. Once again, the American IGN review is lower than the average comparitive review, and the game IS getting good reviews, besides that single fluke.
I predicted this review in the other thread, and for those who would try to marginalize it, 7/10 from EG is MUCH better than 7.5/10 from IGN. Don't kid yourself.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
