Forums - Sony - Is MGS:Peace Walker going to rewrite MGS:Portable Ops history?

With Kojima saying this is a true sequel and blah blah blah. Does this mean he is re-writing everything that happend in PO? Will PO no longer be canon?

Its either this or he is just emphasing true sequel so you could get excited for a PSP MGS after big MG:R console announcement and the other Ac!d titles.

(Dont give me that sony fanboy bullshit about that being a stab at MG:R and PW is a real MGS PSP exclusive etc.)

no-one was going to......CHILL OUT

Bull, the game controlled fine and made Metal Gear work on a portable.

sorry but it really didn't

I know MANY MGS fans who were gravely disappointed by it......you see the sales seem to prove my point

Portable Ops is canon. It always has been and it almost certainly always will be. It was a sequel to MGS3 in the same sense that Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword was a sequel to Ninja Gaiden and Metroid Prime Hunters was a sequel to Metroid Prime. If you want to call all of those games spin-offs then they are all spin-offs.

What is true is that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be the first direct followup to Metal Gear Solid 3 that Kojima is heavily involved with.

Disappointed with the games sure, but I found it easier to control than MGS 3.......

No. It's just a new part of the story

MGS:PO was a damn fine game, but let's be honest, it didn't really do much storywise.

It sold over a million, and could have sold more, but Konami cut off all shipments far too prematurly.

The MGS fans you know are probably disappointed because the limitation of the PSP don't allow as big of cutscenes and story development took a cut. Gameplay wise this was a fine piece of work. I easily spent over 10 hours doing side missions alone.

And critically, it recieved very positive reviews.

Which is why hardcore MGS fans complained.
