Forums - Sony - Is MGS:Peace Walker going to rewrite MGS:Portable Ops history?

With Kojima saying this is a true sequel and blah blah blah. Does this mean he is re-writing everything that happend in PO? Will PO no longer be canon?

Its either this or he is just emphasing true sequel so you could get excited for a PSP MGS after big MG:R console announcement and the other Ac!d titles.

(Dont give me that sony fanboy bullshit about that being a stab at MG:R and PW is a real MGS PSP exclusive etc.)

Portable Ops was set in 1970 right? Because Peace Walker is set in 1974.

Thus i believe that both happened -- its possible that peace walker is a sequel to both MGS3 and to portable ops

Thats what I think but with all his "true sequel" talk Im thinking this might count as the official sequel to MGS3.

Im not sure if he ever said he was dissatisfied with MGS:PO or not so Im not sure.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater/Substience
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
Metal Gear Solid/Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty/Substance
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

And I don't know where Metal Gear Solid Rising will fit in, because we don't know the information or setting which this game will take place.

Eh, I still PO will be considered a spin off while Peace Walker with have much more meat to it storywise.

I hated the recruit system in Portable Ops. So annoying I just wanted to play the game without having to stop every few minutes or so worrying about recruits!

well i dont see PO as a true sequel to MGS3 but still a sequel i think what he mean its not going to be toned down it going to have all the features u would expect from a MGS game PO didnt have as many features as MGS3

Yea it was considered official sequel and cannon. xlost posted the game timeline already.

PO was suppose to tell the story of Big Bosses motivation to create Outer Heaven and how he got the philosophers legacy to fund it IIRC

Now PW is gonna tell the story of how he actually made it and everthing.....right? So if its re-writing PO theres a gap its gonna have to fill.
