Forums - Sony - Getting PS3 soon, need advice

The slim rumors are just that.. rumors. So go with your gut on either waiting for the "slim" which may never come, or buying now.

I'd say the games I've enjoyed the most are LBP, CoD, R6: Vegas 2, and MGS4. Only two of them are exclusives, and I'll assume you get your multiplats on your 360. But I've heard very good things about Uncharted, Valkyria(sp.?) Chronicles, inFamous, and R&C. KZ2 is alright, and there's many other upcoming exclusives that will likely be amazing.

Enjoy your PS3.

If you have friends over a lot, Little Big Planet is a blast on 4-player co-op. My favorite single player game so far has been Uncharted

If you can not wait, just buy it. I recommend the 80gb, with Killzone 2 and MGS 4

1) Buy new, not used.... my bro bought a used 60 and my goodness.... Freezing, every 10 seconds.... and the fans kicked into overdrive as soon as you start it up. For me, if it's not a PS3 GAME, I simply don't trust used anymore

2) the PS3 slim thing is only rumored, not confirmed. If you choose to wait, you may be waiting for nothing or for quite some time. [I also wouldn't sit around waiting for a price cut either... it wasn't announced at E3.... so I doubt it's happening anytime soon]

3) your options are the 80, and 160GB for buying new. They both have no flashcard readers and only 2 USB ports. Neither has PS2 B/C. The 160GB is 499 and comes with uncharted [game you said you were interested in] and a download voucher for a certain PSN game... [forgot what].

There rest, I'm sure people in this thread can make some great gamelists.

4 ≈ One

MGS4 (must buy)
Uncharted
inFamous
Killzone 2
Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction

Buy all five of these exclusive games for starters.

Buy a new console 80GB or 160GB PS3. Do not buy the 40GB PS3 if its secondhand and saves you $100 it could be on its last legs, Get PS3 with a two year extended store warranty to cover future repairs for peace of mind brings warranty to three years on PS3 for an extra $50. The first thing to break down in a PS3 is often the Blu-Ray player due to excessive use which wears it out.

Warhawk

Motostorm 2

Valkyria Chronicles

Resistance

Resistance 2

Wipeout HD

SOCOM Confrotation

Singstar

Buzz Quiz TV

All of these are worth buying except for WarHawk and SOCOM: Confrontation which were both disappointing. However SOCOM:Confrontation comes with offical PS3 headset, EBay SOCOM:Confrontation. Best PS3 headset is the offical PS3 headset or the Logitech Vantage headsets.

Ignore the people telling you to wait for a price cut. Just get it now. The price cut may or may not happen, and it will more likely than not take out several features.

MGS4 and Uncharted are very good choices. If you can get one more, I recommend LittleBigPlanet. Killzone 2, Valkyria Chronicles, inFamous and Tools of Destruction are also must own exclusives. For the rest of this year, keep an eye on Uncharted 2, and R&CF: A Crack in Time, and MAG and GT5 if they appeal to you.

I say all this with the assumption that you already own most of the great multiplats on 360. Though if you are planning on getting any MGS, Final Fantasy, Tekken or DMC game (or anything which was once a Sony exclusive), I strongly recommend the PS3 version- it will usually be superior.

Do a lot of people still play Warhawk or Socom: Confrontation because I might eventually get one of these games for the headset, or is it not worth it?

Buy 80gb ps3 + Uncharted, ratchet TOD, MGS4, Motorstorm 2 and KZ2/infamous and as for your question about warhawk yes there are still lots playing it dunno about socom cause I don't have it.

Didn't Amazon restock their supply of MGS PS3s a couple months ago? And didn't the MGS PS3 have B/C?

Read this with a grain of salt, I definately could be making it up.
